UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - February 25, 2009 -- In an innovative late-night first, host Carson Daly of NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly" (Mondays-Fridays, 1:35-2:05 a.m. ET) steps out from behind the desk for the entire week of March 2 with five original episodes shot on location that will spotlight the television debuts of five rising new musical acts.
Daly has always been a trendsetter in introducing new musical talent on his show -- such as successful acts Maroon 5, The Killers and Katy Perry, all of who made their television debuts on "Last Call." Daly will continue this tradition by featuring five new promising music artists, including Little Boots, Melonie Fiona, Charles Hamilton, Robert Francis and N.A.S.A. -- all of whom will be making their network television debut.
During that week, Daly will visit a number of locations in Hollywood such as Cinespace, the Roxy, the Viper Room and the Hotel Café, as well as the Mezzanine in San Francisco to explore several exciting new musical performers.
Little Boots -- the electronic/pop artist from London -- has generated an Internet fan base after posting videos on YouTube for the past year, which gives highlights into her musical world. The music industry has named her the artist to watch out for in 2009 after winning the BBC's Sound of 2009 prize.
Canadian R&B/Soul artist Melonie Fiona opened for Kanye West on the European leg of his "Glow in the Dark" tour in Fall 2008, and her upcoming album "The Bridge" is one of the most anticipated albums of 2009.
Charles Hamilton is 21-year-old hip-hop artist, who is slated to be the next superstar to come out of Interscope Records. His single, "Brooklyn Girls," made Rolling Stone's 100 Best Singles of 2008 list.
Los Angeles folk artist Robert Francis has earned a growing following at the age of 21 and has already drawn comparisons to Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle and Neil Young. Heading to Austin, Texas in March, Francis will be playing at the musical festival South by Southwest.
N.A.S.A. (North America, South America) are an electronic/hip-hop group who hail from Los Angeles and Brazil and just released their debut album "The Spirit of the Apollo" this month. They are also performing at the Noise Pop Music Festival and at Coachella Festival in April.
"Last Call with Carson Daly" is produced by Universal Media Studios and is taped before a live audience at NBC Studios in Burbank, California. David Friedman and Guy Oseary are executive producers.
