INTRODUCTION
NBC's THE MORE YOU KNOW public service campaign has long been at the
forefront of the nation's most critical issues through a comprehensive public
service effort. Through the medium of television, the campaign brings poignant messages
about social issues into the living rooms of millions of Americans and
encourages action and involvement through hotline numbers to local agency
contacts.
The campaign has many elements. EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS sent to
schools nationwide, community-based efforts, local news tie-ins and other
components ensure that THE MORE YOU KNOW is not just a series of public
service announcements with floating messages. We are particularly proud of
the work many of our affiliate stations have done to make THE MORE YOU KNOW
come alive in local communities across America!
A CALL TO ACTION
A significant element of our campaign is the major focus on partnering viewers with
referral organizations through toll-free 800# hotlines featured in respective TMYK public
service announcements. The spots call-to-action, in conjunction with the agency
partnerships, assures the spots not only deliver the message but also steer our viewers
to a local contact to insure appropriate and immediate help and information. We
have also set up this new website with REFERRAL LINKS to help our viewers
get the help and information they may want and/or need.
CURRENT ISSUES
THE MORE YOU KNOW PSAs are geared toward adults,
parents in particular, urging them to be an active participant in their
child's education, health and well-being. Topics such as parental involvement, internet safety, mentoring, and the v-chip are included in this year's slate of
spots. Other PSAs were produced this year that target young people and address topics such as bullying, the dangers of smoking, and diversity. Check out this year's topics in this site's TOPICS

To keep current on issues of national concern, THE MORE YOU KNOW also relies
on the guidance of a national advisory board. This board consists of a wide variety
of government and community leaders who help identify appropriate messages based
on our audience.
A BROAD REACH
THE MORE YOU KNOW PSAs air throughout NBC's line-up during primetime,
daytime, latenight and Saturday teen programming reaching millions of viewers. Most importantly, we have the ability through THE MORE YOU KNOW PSAs to strategically
place tailored messages within programs that have the same demographic reach.

For its efforts THE MORE YOU KNOW has received numerous awards, including the prestigious
