"Read to your kids early, read with them often. They'll read for life. Don't you just love happy endings?"
— Ming-Na, ER
One of the most important things that you can do for your children is help them develop their reading skills. The late librarian of the Library of Congress, Daniel Boorstin, said, "man's greatest invention" was the book. It is no exaggeration to say that reading affects not only how successful they are in school, but also how well they do throughout their lives. Reading ehnances their opportunities, economic knowledge and enriches their lives. When children learn to read, they have the key that opens the door to all the knowledge of the world. Spend some time with your children and help them unlock the power of reading. Even beyond the early years of learning to read, continue reading with your children. Encourage them to read the newspaper with you to increase their vocabulary, as well as stay informed on current events.
