HOW TO MAKE A HOME TAPE
The first rule in making a videotape audition for THREE WISHES is: Be yourself!
Making a videotape audition for the program is very easy. Using a video camera, make us a 5-minute tape that explains why you would be an excellent candidate for Three Wishes. Be creative, show us your personality - tell us who you are and what makes you unique. Start with your name and hometown. There is no "right" or "wrong" thing to say on your tape, we just want to get to know you in the every day way your friends and family do.
Make sure that you include footage of everything that's important to the wish you are making. This includes the person making the wish, the person/community/etc. that the wish is for and please try to keep the tape less than 5 minutes.
Video Production 101...
Dress up and look nice.
Start with your name, age, and hometown.
Please look directly into the camera and make sure we can see and hear you clearly;
Place the camera close to the person who is talking. Sound quality is VERY IMPORTANT!
Turn off the television, radio, fan or anything else that might add extra noise;
Do not sit in front of a window.
Do not zoom in and out – just frame it head and shoulders.
Do not read from a piece of paper. Just look at the camera and speak from the heart. Remember, we want you to be yourself!
Label the tape with your name, age, address and phone number;
We can only accept VHS, hi-8, digital-8 or DV tapes, but we would prefer if you transfer the last 3 formats to VHS. Transferring your camcorder tape to VHS can be accomplished easily. Use the Red, White, and Yellow cables that come with your camera to connect it to your VCR. Push play on your camera, and Record on your VCR. Please run a test and make sure your transfer worked properly.
Please be sure to WATCH the tape before sending it to us. This will ensure that all audio and video was properly recorded.
REMEMBER, DO NOT SEND TAPE WITHOUT THE APPLICATION!!!
