PSNBC began by programming alternative comedy and theater in Manhattan’s Soho District in January of 2000 and quickly became know as the place where aspiring comedians, actors, writers and filmmakers could showcase their talents for NBC network executives and other industry decision makers. Foremost in the plans for moving forward was the commitment to find and nurture minority actors, comedians, writers, directors and designers with the potential to create and participate in on-air programming.
More recently, NBC has created alliances with the Upright Citizen’s Brigade in New York City and Los Angeles and the Ars Nova performance space in Manhattan. While PSNBC does not currently program it’s own performance space on a regular basis, we rely on these two organizations as a resource to identify up and coming talent and embrace new voices.
