Welcome to THE MORE YOU KNOW's website!

NBC's THE MORE YOU KNOW public service campaign has become a widely recognized brand in the community. Since its inception in 1989, this longstanding and esteemed effort has produced Emmy and Peabody award-winning public service announcements that educate and raise awareness about important societal issues ranging from prejudice to parental involvement. Reaching an impressive 64 million viewers each week, these compelling messages have featured hundreds of NBC's on-air personalities. View the directory of this year's stars and the topics they address in the STARS section of this website. To view a directory of all previous stars and topics they addressed, visit TMYK's FAMILY OF STARS.

THE MORE YOU KNOW PSAs are broadcast each week during NBC's programming in primetime, late night and Saturday morning. The campaign provides valuable referral and resource information through the on-air PSAs, an extensive website, print materials and local community outreach activities.

A Call to Action

A significant element of our on-air campaign has always been to partner viewers with referral organizations through toll-free hotlines featured in THE MORE YOU KNOW PSAs. The call to action, in conjunction with the agency partnerships, assures the spots not only deliver the message, but also directs our viewers to a local contact to ensure appropriate and immediate help and information. Please use the REFERRAL LINKS section featured on this site to access information on any of the topics featured in the current PSAs.

Current Issues

Many of THE MORE YOU KNOW PSAs are geared toward adults, urging them to be an active participant in their child's education, health and well-being. Topics such as family communication, Internet safety, mentoring, and drinking and driving are included in this year's slate of spots. Other PSAs produced this year target youth and address topics such as staying in school and self-esteem. For a comprehensive list of this year's topics, please visit the TOPICS section.

To keep current on issues of national concern, THE MORE YOU KNOW also relies on the guidance of a national advisory board. This board consists of a wide variety of government, community and education leaders who help identify appropriate messages based on our audience.

In Communities Across The Country

We are particularly proud of the work many of our affiliate stations have done to make THE MORE YOU KNOW come alive in local communities across the country. Under the banner of THE MORE YOU KNOW, affiliates also produce PSAs that address topics of community concern featuring local personalities. Many stations implement a variety of on-air specials, town meetings and community outreach activities such as health and education fairs and homework hotlines.

THE MORE YOU KNOW and Discovery Kids on NBC

Each week, NBC's THE MORE YOU KNOW PSAs are incorporated into DISCOVERY KIDS ON NBC programming - the Network's Saturday morning block of educational and informational shows for kids (10:00am - 1:00pm ET). Speaking directly to teens, these messages focus on bullying, substance abuse, smoking, and other relevant issues.
