Episode 3

Who's the REAL Quitter?

There was more than one quitter on the third installment of the Apprentice 3 and for my money Verna was not the worst of the bunch.

Everyone has moments in his or her life when the stress of a situation is just overwhelming and it is tempting to throw in the towel. Certainly in business the temptation is there. There are very few of us, brain surgeons and airline pilots aside, for which quitting has life and death consequences. Most of the time quitting just costs a loss of your own, or, worse, someone else's money and a hit on your reputation. But, I'd much rather someone admit that they are not up to the task and step aside, like Verna, than simply quit trying and coast.

Well, I'm sure you know where I'm going with this ... Michael, Michael, Michael. Here's the deal: you had a huge opportunity to stand above the rest and as they say in the comic books, "use your power for good" but, instead you seemed to sit back and relax. Your entire team, Magna, agreed that you abused your exemption. To me this is far more damaging to your reputation than simply leaving like Verna did. Sure, you survived another round thanks to Mr. Trump playing by the rules and being true to his word, but if you think he didn't notice and put you dead center on his radar screen, you're crazy!

Now for quitter number two: I've got to admit, like my friend on the first Apprentice, Sam, I was kind of rooting for crazy Danny. If for no other reason than to see if he had the kind of brilliant creativity that makes this country great. It's a cliché; but, I've always been a fan of thinking outside the box. I was waiting to see that flash of brilliance from Danny. Unfortunately, Danny quit too. Danny should have never let his team talk him into taking Michael to the boardroom. Did anyone really think Mr. Trump was going to say, "Forget everything I told you, and let's suspend the rules that I've made ... Michael, you're fired?" Not in a million years. By deluding himself and taking Michael to the boardroom, Danny quit and sealed his fate!

Congratulations to Team Net Worth ... AGAIN! Something tells me y'all haven't quit a day in your life.
