Episode 16

Coffee and Donuts? Is the Woman Mad?

Did someone just send me a prank copy of this episode or did I just witness Mrs. Mary Kay, our lipstick loving diva Tana, blow off the Governor of New York State? I'm holding onto my seat in fear I might fall off due to disbelief. Is it me or did she actually NOT greet Governor Pataki or his staff in an appropriate manner, but instead blew off the leader of the state, a hero of the 9/11 attacks and offer him coffee and donuts as a freebie and then run away to deal with more of the fires she created?

Do I even have to continue or can we all just agree to severely can Mrs. Mascara, send her packing (like I wanted to last week) and get on with the hiring celebration for Kendra? That being said, I don't care how Kendra's task was going. Tana, I live here in NY. I'm proud of NY. Our city, our leaders and our state have been through enough and let me tell you, don't ever disrespect anyone in anyway, especially if you're thinking of working here! No one! Not our Mayor, not our Governor, not our police, fireman or subway workers. Got it? You want a job here working for DT? After tonight, forget it. You've got to be kidding yourself with the way you talked to EVERYONE. That or you’d better pray that if you did win by some miracle falling out of the sky on a purple cow, you’d get to work on Trump’s golf course in California where you don't have to look us in the eye.

In the morning, Tana woke her team by screaming and then she complained about how much disrespect they showed her. Mind you, folks, these are the same people, Chris, Kristen and Brian, whom she referred to as “The Three Stooges.” Nice! Hint for you Tana, if you want respect, start with having some for others -- especially those forced to work with YOU. It gets worse. Her so-called “stooges" ended up actually working their asses off for her. Chris even said he wanted her "to win." And what does Tana do but make faces, as if to shun them away and publicly reprimand and humiliate them in front of top executives. Guess what, Tana? The only one to look like a "stooge" or "idiot" was you!

Next, just as I’m about to throw my VCR through the TV, it got worse. Hold on though while I grab my violin. In the middle of Tana's disastrous task, after blowing off the Governor’s staff, she takes a moment to actually complain that people weren't stopping her to say, "You have beautiful blue eyes or where can I get a tube of lipstick?" OK now, am I the only one pulling hair out of my head at this point? Oh, nice touch by the way… hosting the NYC promotion of the American Olympics without an American flag. A touch of brilliance on your part, or was it just something else you could blame on your teammates?

OK, I need a break from discussing her self-proclaimed Majesty. Let's take a breather and discuss Kendra, someone with a beating heart. Kendra, you pulled it together WITH YOUR TEAM (Michael, Danny and Erin) beautifully! They worked hard for you and you worked hard for them! By the way, one of the keys to being a great leader is to surround yourself with great people. Now Kendra may not have had the best, as admitted by her own team, but she made them feel as though they were nothing short of great. The venue looked great, the clients were happy, the event was pulled off seamlessly and everybody was happy in the end, including her teammates (who were to receive no reward). Go Kendra go!

Things wrapped up with two VERY different team goodbyes. One heartfelt, thankful and tearful and the other, well, the slippery serpent slipped into her limousine proclaiming, "We said our goodbyes, there's no need for us all walking together… It's best when the boss lets their employees go on ahead of them so they can feel like an employee and I'll stay back here like an executive.” Guess which one was which?

"Signed sealed and delivered," huh Tana? Hopefully the only thing getting signed tonight is your pink slip!

Kendra, like I said last week, if you don't get hired to be the next Apprentice and Tana does due to some incredible injustice (which I know a lot about), I'll be that much more thrilled I didn't win.

Now is it OK for me to give Kendra my congratulations? I'm rooting for you, girl. You’ll not only become The Apprentice, but the first WOMAN Apprentice! You deserve it! I hope you enjoy the position.

Sincerely,

Your Apprentice Alumna,
Jennifer D. Crisafulli
