Episode 15

And then there were two…

“When I set up something and I hand it over to someone, I tend to allow it… it seems like it’s easy, it seems like… ya know? And I’m willing to hand it over to someone with the intentional… of them allowing… for them to have the opportunity to burn their own bridge.” ~ Craig on hiring employees in one of a four part interview.

Oh boy Craig, where do I sign up? Sounds like working for you would be quite the joy ~ not! For the record, “burning your bridge” is generally not viewed as a positive thing. Ever heard the phrase “don’t burn bridges”? So why would you hand over a job to an employee that you have hired and are paying with the intention of sabotaging them? Also, by the way, it’s “with the intention” not “with the intentional”. That’s almost as good as Audrey’s use of “personal-less”, just an F.Y.I. And to think you gave Kendra a hard time about communication. Seems to me karma got the best of you and you ended up digging your own grave. I have no doubt you’re a great father, family man and no doubt have a great smile, but goodbye Craig.

And then there were the final two – Kendra (my personal favorite to win hands down) vs. Tana (our snorting squealing self-proclaimed Mary Kay Cosmetics guru). I’ve been saying this for weeks now folks… let’s just call it a day, hire Kendra and send Tana back to Iowa to sell some lipstick, shall we? Now, some may wonder why I am being so tough on our Eye Shadow Queen. Well, let me explain. First of all, she shows up in the boardroom with some red boa frock that not even Cruella Deville would be caught dead in and then, when her poor former fired teammates come in as “employees” for her (and believe me, I’ve been there, it sucks), Tana not only has the audacity to ask George if there’s any chance of switching up the teams, but she proceeds to explain that she has “The Three Stooges.” Oh how nice of the cornbread mom. I’m sure she’d be pleased if someone talked about her kids that way.

On the flip side, you have Kendra, who got handed a tough bunch as well, who calls her teammates on the cell phone to “boost some morale,” as even Michael put it. He even somewhat admitted that Kendra might not be thrilled because he knew they could be rough. Hell, even Erin admitted, “Kendra has a lot to do on this task, but primarily she has to monitor Michael, Danny and myself.” Whew, great people, but no easy task.

Next we have the venues: Chelsea Piers vs. Webster Hall. Two places I am very familiar with. Chelsea Piers has one of the largest, nicest state of the art gyms in the world and Webster Hall is a nightclub that shows some wear and tear. No wonder the PlayStation executives were frightened the day before when it was only half-decorated for the event.

Tana talked down to her teammates and told Carolyn, “I about died when I saw those three stooges come in today.” What? Wait! Even Carolyn had to be appalled. First of all, yeah I’m thrilled that you’ve made it this far, Mrs. Mary Kay, but hold your horses and don’t talk about anyone that way. You should have learned that from Ivana from Season 2. She quickly realized that people didn’t think she was quite as brilliant or funny as she thought she was with those type of comments about her teammates.

So there we have it, the episode ends as a cliffhanger. Kendra my friend, you seem to be off to a rough start. Tana, besides your immediate resentment of your teammates, you seem to be living on easy street. Time will tell. My prediction is that things will turn around quickly. You get further with honey than with vinegar – and vinegar seems to be all that Tana is serving.

Folks, I’ve been pretty much dead on about every firing up to this point. Mark my words, place your bets and watch it happen. Can I give Kendra an early congratulations yet?

Sincerely,

Your Apprentice Alumna,
Jennifer D. Crisafulli
