Episode 14
Sometimes the firings just aren't right
I have to admit that this firing was a tough one for me. It just didn't seem fair. Although I have been pretty tough on Alex for sneaking "under the radar" on previous tasks, I adamantly believe that on this specific task, he should not have been fired and that Tana no doubt should have been!
It's funny because I know for a fact that this "job interview" hosted by DT often contradicts itself on many levels. For example, sometimes the big guy won't even hear about your "track record" in the boardroom and will base the firings on the task at hand. In this case, DT's decision was based solely on Alex's track record rather than on his performance during the current task.
Alex not only came up with the "Rock Star" theme for the T-shirts, but he was the only one concerned about marketing and promotions -- something Tana promptly blew off in favor of driving all the way to Staten Island for some rhinestone doodads. God, if I never have to hear her say "The BeDazzler" again, it would be too soon. Not to mention she made them drive all the way to Staten Island to go get the damn things. And for those of who don't know how far Staten Island is from Manhattan, put it this way, I've lived in Manhattan for over 12 years and I've only been to Staten Island two times because it's just too FAR! So let's just say, if I had been on this task, I certainly wouldn't have been blowing off marketing for "The BeDazzler" in Staten Island.
Again, I'm sorry Alex. Although I'm not a fan of playing "under the radar," it is how you win this game. But unlike Jennifer M. from our season, who never even wanted to be Project Manager, you are smart, did more and did it well. With that said, you should not have been fired this time around. I'll see you at the finale. I'm sure you're doing just fine.
So, we're left with Tana, Craig and Kendra, huh? Question: Like I said last week, can we just call it a day and hire Kendra and fire the rest of them? My fingers are tired and I'm appalled at everyone but her. Craig, I'm also glad she kicked your ass in air combat. What a great reward - almost as good as the space flight, especially since Kendra won.
Well, we'll see what happens next week. Craig, do you have your bags packed? Arrivederci!
Sincerely,
Your Apprentice Alumna,
Jennifer D. Crisafulli
