Wondering what's happened to last season's candidates? We caught up with some of them and here's what they had to say about their Apprentice experience.
BOWIE HOGG
How did appearing on The Apprentice change your life and/or career plans?
I never in my wildest dreams thought something this huge would come from
this. I took a huge risk before the show, quitting a career I loved and
moving out of my house. It has completely paid off in more ways than I
could imagine. I have totally switched careers, I now run the marketing
department for National Care Network in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. I
realized that management is what I truly love, and excel in. I probably
gained more business experience from this show than I could of during my
whole career. I now keep my eyes open a little wider, and explore any
opportunity that is available. I am glad to be back to work, and couldn't
be happier with where I am in my life.
What were the best and worst things about the experience?
The best thing that has come from this is getting to meet so many new
people. I truly love talking with people, and have made more contacts than
I can imagine. It is very nice when people come up and tell me how I was
robbed, and I kept my respect and reputation during the show. That makes me
realize that I have truly stayed true to myself.
The worst is this show can hurt your business reputation. I was known
before for my business acumen, and now I am known for a TV show. I have to
work away from the TV title, and get back to my business title. It is also
rough when people completely judge you just from the short amount of time
they have seen you. I also feel like I haven't had a deep conversation with as
many people as I would like, because all the talk is about the show. I love
really talking with people, and finding out about their lives. Overall the
worst is tiny in comparison to the best.
Who, if anyone, from the show do you keep in contact with?
I will honestly say I made some friends for life. Bill and I talk as much
as possible, and there is no one I have more faith in. We come from the
same type of families with great morals. I also talk with Sam, Heidi, Jessie,
and Ereka any chance I get. I was so sad to have to miss Katrina's wedding,
and I will visit anyone whose town I am in for business. Even though
everyone is a little dysfunctional in there own way, we all have a special
bond that cannot be broken. Everyone has huge strengths, and it will be
great to see everyone for years to come. I may be nuts, but I truly enjoy
everyone from the show. Wow I am way too nice!
In your opinion, what three words best describe Donald Trump?
Creative, Rich, Pompous (In a good way)
What are you up to now?
I have been exploring all kinds of new opportunities. The greatest part that
has come from this is my new career, and my dedication to my Texas
community. I accepted a position with National Care Network in the
Dallas/Fort Worth area, as part of their management team, serving as the
Director of Marketing. I never thought my career would take me down this
path, but National Care Network truly has that special something. No one
can ever truly describe the perfect corporate culture, you can just feel it.
Well I have felt it along with our company, and all of our clients. National Care Network truly is amazing, and it is an honor to be serving as part of their management team running their marketing department.
I am also dedicating more time to my wonderful community here in Arlington,
TX. I am coaching a youth football team, serving as an advisor for a high
school community service group, and actively involved in local politics. I
have a feeling that politics will be something that remains in my life
forever. It is such a great way to truly make a difference in your
community.
What advice can you offer to the new Apprentice candidates?
Remember what got you there...no one wants actors, and don't think you are
that important because you are on TV. You are good at business, so be true
to yourself. This is a small time in your life that will truly change you.
Just please be as nice to people as possible, because that is what really
matters.
