Omarosa's Predictions and Observations...for Season Two

Check back each week for Omarosa's commentary!

Episode 11

TRUMP GIVES A ONE-TWO PUNCH!!

The teams were uneven again so Trump instructed Mosaic to select a team member to boot to the other team. Wes sent Kelly to Apex, in spite of Maria's objections. That left Mosaic with Wes as project manager, Maria, Andy and Sandy. Apex was now comprised of Kevin as project manager, Ivana, Jennifer and Kelly.

Trump then presented Robert Hanson, President of Levi's to each of the teams. He informed them that they would be responsible for developing an exciting and innovative in-store promotional catalog. I am pleased to see tasks this season that are much more cerebral than those of season 1. These types of task require each team member to illustrate their business acumen. As with their previous advertising tasks, the teams had extensive resources at their disposal to achieve their goal.

With Kevin as project manager for Apex, it was clear that his favorite sidekick, Ivana, would play a key role in the task. Sure enough, Ivana, inspired by Kevin's leadership, came up with a unique design for the catalog. The design was a "Fit Wheel" which would allow customers to manipulate the elements until they created the look they desired. Jennifer was not on the same wavelength with the team. She seemed unable to grasp the creative concept that Ivana presented. It was obvious to me that Jennifer had simply tuned out Ivana as a coping mechanism. They clearly have a tenuous relationship and Jennifer has not allowed that to distract her from the ultimate prize.

Maria exhibited several qualities that are key for being an effective leader, she took initiative, rallied her teammates and lastly she implemented a clear plan. There was only one problem with her assertiveness, she was NOT THE PROJECT MANAGER!!!

In season one, Protégé experienced a similar PM renegade during our Marquis Jet task. Here's a little note: the key to good leadership is knowing when to take control and when to take direction. Wes, the actual Project Manager, allowed Maria to highjack his responsibilities. His strategy was simple, if they win he takes all of the credit, if they lose he blames Maria for being too assertive.

Apex quickly implemented their brainstorming session into a viable campaign. Kevin decided to utilize the members of the team as models. He felt that they were representative of everyday people. It was a great idea to incorporate team members; it demonstrated their connection and confidence in the product.

Maria continued to dominate Mosaic's campaign, yet none of her team members were strong enough to stand up to her. They complained amongst themselves but did not openly express their concern to Maria. When Wes tried to move the photo shoot along, Maria snapped at him. Maria even went as far as to not allow her teammates to preview the catalog. Sandy confronted Maria about her controlling ways, and this led to a dispute. Wes was not able to manage the conflict, which Andy saw as a big waste of time.

Apex spent most of their time trying to keep Jennifer away from the real action. In fact they treated her like a child and gave her busywork. I was ready for Kevin to put her permanently in 'timeout', but that did not happen. Jennifer was aware of their tactics and simply did as she was told. She knew that she was faced with a strong alliance between Kevin and Ivana, so she just went with the flow.

It was no surprise that Maria dominated Mosaic's presentation. What was a big surprise was the team's decision not to wear Levi's to the presentation. Robert pointed out two of the team's blunders. First, their decision not to wear Levi's during their presentation and second, their decision to utilize photos that did not capture the product from appropriate angles. Maria gave a lame response and tried to keep the presentation moving. But it was clear that the team did not hit on the key points outlined by the company for the campaign.

Apex were all dressed in Levi's for their presentation, which was led by their PM, Kevin. Kevin was sweating profusely throughout his portion, which took away from his talk just a bit. Ivana was eager to present her pet project, The Fit Wheel. But Jennifer would exact her revenge on Ivana and Kevin for their alienation. She jumped into the presentation with answers to questions that were reserved for the creator of the idea, Ivana. Jennifer was quite impressive and convincing presenting Ivana's Fit Wheel. (And they thought she was just a dumb blonde.)

During the task resolution, Trump and Melania came in looking stylish. Melania sported a pair of Levi's and Trump was in his usual getup. Robert declared Apex as the winner and Jennifer was named MVP of the team. This ticked Ivana off BIG TIME!

Wes and Mosaic had to answer to DT in the boardroom. Wes tried to blame Maria for the team's downfall. The other team members thought that Maria did a good job. Wes decided to bring all of his teammates back into the boardroom. (This was the first time that the project manager exercised his right to bring back more than two people in the boardroom.)

Wes's decision to bring back all of his teammates may have backfired on him. The consensus of the team, as well as the Trump Trio, was that Wes was a bad leader. Trump also found fault with Maria's dominating approach to the task.

He decided to axe both of them. Maria and Wes you're OUTTA HERE!! Ooh and by the way, you have to share a taxi (as did Amy and Nick last season). Do you think Trump could spring for separate taxis? Sure he could, but this WAY is more humiliating.
