What is your definition of success?
Living life to its fullest in every way-in my work, in my community and with my (present and future) family-- and leaving a legacy in each of these areas of my life.
Who do admire both personally and professionally?
Professionally, I have a deep respect for a former manager, Dean Goodermote. While I worked with him, I met several of his former employees who had gone on to do great things and held him in the highest regard-even the ones he fired. It's a testament to his character and his unbelievable sense of humor. He's an accomplished entrepreneur and an active board director to numerous companies who also makes time for family, community and personal pursuits, whether it's on the slopes or behind a piano.
Personally, I greatly admire my parents for everything they have accomplished in their lives. From the Ozarks of Arkansas to the suburbs of Washington, DC, they have always carried with them a strong work ethic and deep family values. My father worked in a hospital lab during the day and ran a Chinese restaurant at night while my mother pursued another college degree. Although they were busy, they made sure we were either at home with Mom or at the restaurant with Dad. My parents made it work because being independently successful wasn't as important as having a fulfilling family life. Over the years, they have pursued more lucrative career paths but they continue to measure their wealth in the richness of their family. For that, I thank them.
What did you learn from the last season of The Apprentice?
It's not reality.it's a game. Every person's perception is their reality.
What has been your biggest challenge in the pursuit of your career goals?
Finding a career about which I feel passionate, achieving the ideal work/life balance and making the everyday small details just as meaningful as the big picture.
If you had a super power, what would it be and why?
Time Travel. It would be like your very own TIVO super power but with an added "Back-to-the-Future" feature. You could go back and relive any of your favorite moments or you could travel into the future to see what amazing things lie ahead.
