Tonight's Fear Factor menu features cod liver, cod egg sacs and cod sperm. Some contestants wind up eating just one ingredient while others get the dreaded combo plate. Contestant Jason Bowersock says he'll never forget his big plate of mushy cod liver:
FEAR FACTOR: So, how was it?
JASON BOWERSOCK: The liver was definitely gross. I was struggling big-time but I was trying not to let the others see it. Every time I swallowed, I definitely wanted to launch. That stuff was nasty.
FEAR FACTOR: You eventually started picking up the liver from your plate and rolling it into a ball. What was that strategy all about?
JASON BOWERSOCK: It was just getting harder and harder to get it down. I thought if I could just mush it into a ball, I could tear off chunks and swallow it without really trying to chew it. But that didn't work, either. It just made it even grosser.
FEAR FACTOR: How would you describe the consistency?
JASON BOWERSOCK: It was just really mushy. I had to squeeze it and get it in my mouth and -- I can't even describe it. It was just absolutely repulsive.
FEAR FACTOR: What were your expectations going into the second stunt?
JASON BOWERSOCK: I was expecting to have to eat something. I have a pretty strong stomach and I thought I could handle it but that was just nasty. Every time I would exhale, I could just taste that nasty fish -- oh, that was gross.
FEAR FACTOR: The other contestants were eating cod egg sacs and cod sperm. Were you envious?
JASON BOWERSOCK: I really wanted to be eating the egg sacs. It seemed to just stay together better, and you could bite it off like a hot dog. Mine was just mushy and falling apart in my mouth.
FEAR FACTOR: You made some gagging noises as the competition tried to eat their cod plates. Do you want to explain that strategy?
JASON BOWERSOCK: I think it's ridiculous when people encourage other people on this show. I don't want them to try hard; I want them to lose. I don't care if they fall and they have a horrible time. I mean, there's fifty grand on the line. Why do you want someone else win? Obviously, I would rather see them fail.
FEAR FACTOR: Why did you decide to be a contestant on Fear Factor?
JASON BOWERSOCK: I need to win fifty grand. I have some things I could spend the money on. I hate it when these people get on the show and they're like, 'Oh, I just want to compete against myself.'
FEAR FACTOR: So this isn't a personal journey?
JASON BOWERSOCK: Uh, no, this is no journey. This is about winning fifty grand.
