The Gemini Twins: Shawn, Belle, Cassie, Rex, John, Marlena
Once Belle learned the truth that Shawn did not father Jan's baby, the young couple finally reconciled. But just when they thought they would have a quiet, blissful summer, something unexpected happened!

On the night of the Gemini Meteor Showers, the Bradys and Hortons gathered to watch the anticipated event at Bo and Hope's house. But what started out as fun turned frightening when a meteor hurtled towards Salem. Everyone ran toward the house as the meteor came crashing towards the town. As the group scattered, Shawn and Belle tripped over the telescope and bumped their heads together; as suddenly, the meteor's light fell out of sight. Everyone clutched their loved ones as they wondered where the meteor had landed. Later, when the group calmed down, Shawn and Belle decided to head to Lookout Point for some quality alone time together.

As the two shared a kiss on Lookout Point, an unusual light in the sky startled them. Before they knew what was happening, an unknown object came crashing from the sky and landed right in front of them! The object, which looked like a capsule, slowly opened and revealed two almost naked human-looking bodies. And that's not all-these bodies had strange lights flashing on their wrists! Shawn and Belle couldn't believe their eyes. Had they stumbled upon aliens? The teens carefully approached them and were startled to find them lifeless. Determined to save them, Shawn and Belle administered CPR. After saving their lives, it was clear that the "girl" felt a strong connection to Shawn, while the "boy" felt a strong connection to Belle. Once the two were breathing again, Shawn and Belle were anxious to find out more about these creatures. But before they could question any further, the "aliens" ran away.

The next morning, Shawn and Belle returned home to very worried parents. Bo, Hope, John, and Marlena demanded explanations about their whereabouts. The kids hesitantly revealed to their parents what they had seen. The four adults were obviously skeptical, but Bo and John received a call from Abe asking them to come to Lookout Point to investigate. John and Bo headed out and once there, found a Hazmat team and scientists investigating the area. The two men deduced that the kids merely saw a meteor landing.

Later, Shawn and Belle returned to the hilltop and were shocked to find the area sealed off by the government. One of the government agents interrogated them, but the two decided not to give the whole story. After seeing the flurry of activity on the hilltop, the teens were even more convinced that the aliens were real. They decided to try to find the aliens and help them. When they finally did find the aliens, Belle and Shawn brought them back to the Brady's garage, and became convinced that the aliens were really the legendary Gemini Twins, since they landed on earth during the Gemini meteor showers. Belle and Shawn gave the twins names--Cassie and Rex.

As it turned out, Cassie and Rex were not aliens, after all. They were actually humans, with genetically engineered DNA. And that's not all, the blue key which John stole from Tony seemed to be a key to their identity. John discovered that the key unlocked the twins' bracelets; underneath each bracelet was a tattoo of a wing. When John put them together, they formed a Phoenix! Meanwhile, Belle and Shawn worried about the fate of the twins. Belle was greatly relieved when Marlena decided to place Cassie and Rex under her care. Under Marlena's care, the twins made amazing progress. Upon being released from the hospital, Tony was granted guardianship of Cassie and Rex and they went to live at the DiMera mansion. Shawn and Belle began school at Salem University, and soon the twins decided they too wanted to attend.

Eventually, Rolf, a DiMera employee, explained the story of the twins to Tony-they were created to carry on the DiMera legacy. At the same time, the mystery of the twins' parentage heated up. But all involved got the answers they were looking for when tests proved that Marlena and Tony were the parents of Cassie and Rex. Marlena was stunned by this development. Of course, John was less than thrilled that his wife now shared this bond with Tony. When Belle heard the news, she was shocked to learn that she had new half-siblings...especially since she certainly does not see eye-to-eye with Cassie.

However, this was not the end of the story. Desperate to find out answers about himself, Rex performed a DNA test and learned that his father was not Tony DiMera, but in fact...Roman Brady!
