In order to stay out of jail, Nicole was forced to marry Victor Kiriakis after he learned that she murdered her lover Colin Murphy. But life with Victor has proven to be it's own kind of prison, as Nicole is forced to live under his thumb. Things seemed to turn around for Nicole when Victor's grandson Brady moved into the mansion. Brady became a confidant and friend to Nicole. As the two spent more and more time together, the attraction between them grew. However, Victor will do anything to make sure that Nicole never gets involved with his grandson. He even brought Brady's true love, Chloe, back to town. Nicole was furious as Brady and Chloe reaffirmed their love. When Chloe left town once again, Nicole vowed she would get Brady for herself.
Meanwhile, Nicole has enlisted the help of troublemaker Jan Spears. In exchange for helping Jan win Shawn Brady, Jan must help Nicole in her plans against Victor.
Eventually, Nicole's plan took a deadly turn when she decided to kill Victor. Nicole ordered Jan to do the deed and Jan, believing Nicole would help her get Shawn, obliged. Jan electrocuted Victor while he was taking a bath! However, neither Jan nor Nicole know that Victor is actually alive and well on Captive Island.
