Brandon rebuffed Sami's advances because he was dating Jennifer Horton at the time, but Sami wouldn't take no for an answer. She did everything she could to split Jennifer and Brandon up. Finally, Brandon and Jennifer decided it was for their own best interests to break up and Sami was thrilled. However, when Brandon's attention turned to needy Lexie Carver, Sami was less than pleased-especially when she witnessed how much time the two were spending together since Lexie's release from the mental ward. Not willing to give up despite Brandon's constant rejection, Sami asked for another chance, but Brandon suggested that Sami should spend some time alone. Of course, this was not an acceptable answer for Sami. Sami knew she needed to take action and she figured out exactly what she needed to do. She would spend time with dangerous Tony DiMera in order to catch Brandon's attention! Tony agreed to Sami's plan but Brandon figured out exactly what she was doing.

After Tony told Sami that Abe and Lexie were reconciling, Sami and Brandon were trapped together on the roof during a rainstorm. The two began to argue, but soon their argument turned passionate and they shared a kiss. Brandon pulled away from Sami but Sami declared her love to him! Just as they were about to make love, they were interrupted. But they made a promise they would pick up where they left off later that night.

However, Brandon's sister Nicole overheard Brandon talking to Sami. As a result of her hatred of Sami, Nicole was determined to keep them apart. Nicole went to Victor and told him to force Sami to back off of Brandon. Victor confronted Sami and told her she had to give up Brandon, or he would play the tape with incriminating evidence against her. A devastated Sami was forced to cancel her night with Brandon. Just when Brandon learned that Sami had stood him up, Lexie arrived at his apartment upset that Abe had rejected her. The two needy friends wound up making love!

Meanwhile, Nicole made a big decision-to marry Victor. But when Colin showed up at Nicole's angry about seeing Jennifer and Jack together, Colin and Nicole ended up in having sex! Sami was suspicious about what was going on between Colin and Nicole. She was determined to get the scoop, so that she could turn the tables on Nicole, and therefore be with Brandon.

As Nicole was getting ready for her engagement dinner with Victor, Sami barged in on Nicole and the two enemies argued. Nicole stalked off to her dinner--with Sami in hot pursuit. Nicole and Sami ran into Victor just as a shot was fired by a hit man after Victor. In a shocking move, Sami pushed Nicole in front of the bullet! As Nicole lost consciousness, she murmured Sami's name and Victor and Brandon wondered what Sami had to do with the shooting. Later, Sami contemplated pulling the plug on Nicole, knowing that with Nicole gone she could be with Brandon. Sami ultimately decided not to pull the plug, hoped that Nicole would never wake up!

Unfortunately for Sami, Nicole came out of the coma. Nicole did not wind up revealing any information on Sami to Brandon, since Sami also had information on Nicole. As a result, Sami was able to continue her relationship with Brandon and the two decided to start over with a clean slate.

After the shooting, Nicole learned that she might not be able to have kids and vowed revenge against Sami. Victor promised Nicole he would destroy Sami and Kate as a wedding present to his bride. A horrified Sami and Kate overheard Victor's vow and the enemies formed an unholy alliance to bring down Nicole! Just as Nicole and Victor were about to get married, Kate barged in with Lucas. Lucas dropped a bombshell by announcing that he and Nicole were still married. Nicole was furious that her wedding was aborted and once again vowed revenge on Sami and Kate. Nicole and Lucas' marriage was finally dissolved and Victor and Nicole moved forward with their plans to wed.

Meanwhile, Sami was horrified to learn that Lexie was pregnant. Sami made sure to get her hands on the paternity test and switched them so that Abe, not Brandon, would be the father. Unfortunately for Sami, Colin witnessed her switching the paternity test and began blackmailing her. At the same time, Colin blackmailed Nicole with evidence of their affair. Both were desperate to put an end to the blackmail. After Victor and Nicole said "I do," the blackmail finally ended...since Colin was murdered! However, Nicole was even more trouble than ever. It turned out that Victor had evidence that Nicole was the one who offed Colin. While he prevented her from going to jail by setting up Larry to take the fall, Nicole is still a prisoner...in her own marriage. Since Victor has Nicole under his thumb, he is forcing her to be the perfect wife that he wants her to be. In addition, he has taken away any power she may have including her job at Titan!

Sami's didn't get to her "happily ever after" any more successfully than Nicole did. At first, things were going great for Sami when she and Brandon began living together. But, Sami's secret about the paternity of Lexie's baby was still a ticking time bomb. Eventually, Lucas learned the truth about the paternity switch. Right after Sami and Brandon tied the knot at a Justice of the Peace, Lucas, Nicole and Kate burst in and burst Sami's bubble. They revealed that she switched Lexie's paternity test and that Brandon was the father of Lexie's baby. Brandon left in a hurry to get to Lexie, who had just given birth (and had just admitted to Abe that she had slept with Brandon). Once there, Lexie revealed the truth to all assembled. Lexie had set Sami up! Lexie had always known that Abe was the father of the baby, but she set Sami up to believe otherwise. Sami was furious! Of course, Brandon didn't want to hear any of Sami's excuses, and he walked out on her once and for all saying that he would annul their marriage.

A furious Sami realized that Tony had been in on the plan with Lexie. She set off to the DiMera mansion to confront him. Once there, she found Tony and Lucas celebrating her downfall. In a fit of rage, she lunged at them. But instead of hitting her targets, Sami fell through the French doors of the DiMera mansion and was gravely injured.

Meanwhile, Kate seems to have found happiness-unlike her two enemies. She and Roman have finally declared their love for one another.
