After the heartbreak of returning Isaac, the baby they'd raised for two years, to Bo and Hope, Abe Carver and Lexie DiMera had finally found happiness again when they had a baby of their own. However, Tony, Lexie's brother, never quite approved of Lexie's marriage to the upstanding Abe. He believed that Abe stood in the way of Lexie and her son, Theo, from becoming true DiMeras. As a result, Tony vowed to get rid of Abe.
At the same time, Lexie's mother, Celeste began having disturbing premonitions that her family was in grave danger. Lexie was terrified by her mother's pronouncement and begged Abe to be careful. Abe promised to leave the police force once he had solved Colin Murphy's murder. But on the day of Theo's christening, tragedy struck the Carver family when Abe was shot and killed. Lexie is in deep mourning of her beloved husband.
Meanwhile, Cassie and Rex DiMera (AKA the Gemini Twins) were shocked when Rex's secret DNA tests proved they weren't really the offspring of Tony and Marlena, but the children of Kate and Roman-therefore making them Bradys, not DiMeras. Cassie and Rex kept the secret, until Sami blurted out the truth! However, after the truth was revealed, Cassie and Rex announced that they still considered themselves DiMeras. Tony was pleased by their decision. But tragedy struck the family when the Salem Stalker viciously murdered Cassie.
The DiMera family grief did not end there. After announcing that he knew the identity of the killer, Tony was attacked by a tiger unleashed by the serial killer. Tony survived the attack but was later killed when the killer injected poison into his I.V.
Of course, Tony was not really dead at all, but alive and well on Captive Island. And that's not all-Tony was actually involved in the plot to bring the residents of Salem to Captive Island. However, he is not working alone!
