As Captain of the Salem Police Department, Roman Brady was determined to bring the Salem Stalker to justice. Unfortunately, the original seven suspects included his daughter, Sami, and his lover, Kate Roberts. Eventually, both ladies were cleared of the crimes.

After learning that Kate had kept the secret of her past as Stefano's hooker from him, Roman broke up with Kate. But upon learning that they were the parents of Cassie and Rex (thanks to Stefano's machinations), the couple reconciled. Unfortunately, the couple lost Cassie before they ever had a chance to know her since she was murdered by the serial killer. After finally tying the knot with Kate, Roman became the next victim of the killer. At his wedding reception, he was viciously stabbed to death.

ISA Agent John Black, while not an official member of the Salem Police Department, is also on the quest to find the Salem Stalker. John was devastated when his wife Marlena asked him to move out as a result of Celeste's premonition that John would kill Marlena. Of course, little does John know that the killer is actually none other than his beloved wife, respected doctor Marlena Evans Black!

John eventually learned that Marlena was the serial killer, but he knew there was more to the story-his beloved Doc would never kill anyone! But before he could get to the bottom of the story, Marlena was shot and killed (or so John believed). As John mourns Marlena, he is also drawing closer to Kate Roberts, who is in mourning over her husband Roman.

Meanwhile, Bo has also had to face a loss, as Hope has been presumed dead. However, Bo does not believe his Fancy Face is dead and is determined to get the answers!
