Any advice to girls aspiring to be in pageants?
If I could give one advice to girls aspiring to be in pageants, that would be not to copy anyone else but being yourself. Taking notes from others is a great way to improve yourself, but never try to pretend something you are not. Be the best that YOU can be because that is when you will truly shine.
Who is the most fascinating person you have met since winning Miss Universe?
I've met so many interesting people this year: movie stars, athletes, writers, singers, polititians, fashion designers and even royalty. The person who fascinated me the most, would have to be Archbishop Desmond Tutu, whom I met while traveling in South Africa. I had the pleasure of attending a Sunday service in his church followed by a private reception at his house! He really is an inspiring individual who radiates with compassion and kindness. We talked about the HIV/AIDS epidemic that has hit his country so hard, and that made me feel more passionate and committed to continue working with the cause.
What's the first thing you are going to do after passing the torch to Miss Universe 2006?
I will take a few days off to rest on the island of Samui in Thailand, and take my parents along with me.
How has your personal life been affected since becoming Miss Universe?
my personal life has changed as well since winning the title. Having such a busy schedule left me with little time to spend with my friends. I also don't have as much time to go out socially as I used to. I now focus more on getting as much rest as possible, working out, and eating healthy, because it gives me more energy and stamina to get through such a hectic schedule. Of course, on my my days off I enjoy getting together with friends for dinner and even dancing sometimes.
What's your idea of the perfect day?
My perfect day would start off not too early in the morning (around 9 am) with breakfast outdoors. Next, I would either go for a run in the park or do a 1-2 hours workout at the gym. The afternoon would be spent shopping and having a light lunch with some friends. And in the evening, a dinner followed by dancing and taking a walk along the beach.
