This self-proclaimed "brains and brawn" type is an entertaining guy for sure. The girls will be attracted to his wit, and his swagger will surprise the guys.
Mike's afterthoughts August 17th
What behavior surprised you the most from the other contestants?
The girls were tougher than some of the guys. The ladies did an awesome job.
Who did you feel most connected to during the competition?
Samantha.
Any fun anecdotes or run-ins with nature you'd like to share?
On my second day in the jungle, I came across a honey badger. I'd never been so scared in my entire life. Even though it walked in slow motion, it was still the fastest animal I've ever seen.
What did you learn about yourself through this experience?
I learned that I am able to push myself harder than I ever thought. And that I need more hearts of palm in my life. Delicious.
Why did you decide to take part in this show?
The casting director told me about a new dating series that promised "adventure, exotic settings, and beautiful women." That's not exactly a hard sell in my book.
Would you call yourself an outdoorsy person? Why or why not?
No, but I took a camping class in college. Unfortunately I retained none of the course lessons to use during the adventures.
What is your biggest fear or phobia?
Clowns. And rejection. The worst is being rejected by a clown.
What surprised you most about being in the jungle?
My newly acquired fondness for insect repellant.
What was the hardest thing for you to live without? What did you miss the most?
Easy: cell phone.
What would other people say are your best qualities?
I get comments about my smile. I think it's because I'm an avid flosser.
Describe the worst date you've ever been on.
My date had some bad seafood. 'Nuff said.
What qualities do you find to be most important in your partner?
Attitude. Keep it positive and we'll get along just fine.
Describe your ideal date.
A simple formula of beach, wine, and laughter. And a ribeye steak makes an appearance somewhere in there.
What was it like sharing a cabin with a total stranger?
Awkward at first, but not as bad as other roommates I've had in the past.
