Christian Seklecki can best be described as passionate and intellectual. While he is studying for the bar exam and plans on practicing law, he is also entertaining blending his legal background with music to become a music supervisor. Seklecki has his hands full juggling all his interests but insists that he is not too busy for a relationship. This music junkie balances his varied interests by reading legal opinions for fun and sneaking into sold-out concerts.
As a child, his favorite game was Capture the Flag - and now he hopes to capture a woman's heart in the wild. After a few failed online dating experiences, he is ready to find a genuine woman with whom he can spend the rest of his life.
Seklecki attended the University of Georgia in Athens and received a philosophy degree. He then went on to the University of Georgia School of Law, where he received his law degree.
Whom did you feel most connected to during the competition?
I really enjoyed most everyone on the show. There were definitely certain people I bonded with more than others. Because there were so many guys around compared to the number of girls and because I knew within the first 24 hours that I was going home early, I found myself befriending the guys who were part of the original seven guys. For some strange reason, even though you don't really know any of the 13 other guys, this group mentality was quickly established where people initially wanted to help out those guys who were part of their group.
Ultimately, are you happy the additional contestants were brought in to mix it up?
When I saw that there were additional guys brought in, I knew I was in for it. I signed up to do the show because I thought I could do well in an environment where there was a 1:1 ratio and the game was more about the adventure races. I know that I am kind of a weird guy and I take a little time getting used to and was not ready to put myself out there and try to impress someone at the risk of going home early. Nonetheless, it certainly allowed me to just have fun and not care too much about the game and what was happening. Once I knew I was going home, I just thought it would be fun to see how much craziness someone could get into while in paradise. I went home with some amazing memories and budding friendships.
What behavior surprised you the most from the other contestants?
I think I was the one who was surprising other contestants, not the other way around
Why did you decide to take part in this show?
The idea of adventure in an exotic location was just too good to pass up.
Would you call yourself an outdoorsy person? Why or why not?
I don't know if I would call myself "outdoorsy" only because that is one of the funniest sounding words in the world, only slightly less funny than "kumquat." Until I can figure out a way to bring the mountains, waves and waterfalls into my living room, I guess I am just going to have to go outdoors and get it.
What are you afraid of?
Sharks. Being slammed into a reef after getting demolished by a humungous wave while surfing. Running out of Wasabi peas when drinking beer.
What surprised you most about being in the jungle?
Angry coconuts.
What was the hardest thing for you to live without? What did you miss the most?
Music. Not getting to listen to jams while hanging out with fun people was hard.
What would other people say are your best qualities?
My ability to sneak into sold-out concerts.
Describe the worst date you've ever been on.
I went out with a few girls from an online dating website and there are some lying fools out there. Some of these girls will post pictures of themselves from when they were eight years younger and 45 pounds lighter. Then, they would arrive to meet you and just act like it was no big deal, as if her stellar choice of shoes was going to make me forget that I thought I was about to go out with someone attractive. I am shallow, I know.
What qualities do you find to be most important in your partner?
Physically and spiritually pulchritudinous; good aesthetic tastes in art, music, clothes and all the other things that dictate whether our surroundings are beautiful; an informed intellect balanced by a silly sense of humor.
