Age: 28
Hometown: San Diego, CA; resides in Newport Beach, CA
U.S. Marine Corps veteran Aaron Chase hopes that his training from the Marine Corps will allow him to dominate the game. He was once in a long-term serious relationship but has been living the single life for the past three years. He admits he's been holding out for someone worth dating, someone with a big heart. Ultimately, he wants to win the game and find a fantastic girl in the process.
The beach would be this ex-Marine's ideal first-date spot where his plan includes Frisbee golf, kayaking and a sushi dinner.
Chase attended Orange Coast College and works as a regional marketer for a beverage company.
Whom did you feel most connected to during the competition?
Summer, she was my partner and the best choice beauty, brains and a strong will. She definitely wasn't afraid to tell me what was on her mind, and I felt since she was willing to be honest with me it made it easier to develop a connection.
Ultimately, are you happy the additional contestants were brought in to mix it up?
I am happy with the additional contestants; it allowed me to do the three girls swap to get Summer away from Ryan and for him to end up with Jenna. I wasn't happy in the first Couples Choice Ceremony because I thought I was headed home. It all worked out though, and I had the chance to get acquainted with a few more people.
What behavior surprised you the most from the other contestants?
Towards the end, the real emotion we all had for the couples, we wanted real couples to stay and the ones that were not as connected to leave. It was as if one day the switch turned for everyone and said "We are here for the right reasons, and you are not... get out!"
What was your favorite challenge and why?
The one where Summer and I barely missed coming in last, it showed me a lot about how we work together, even though there was a slip up and we missed Upper Falls. We ended up making the best of it and skipping across the finish line. We were preparing to drop to our knees and pull a Wayne's World "Were not worthy."
Was there anything off-screen that you feel the audience missed out on?
In the last challenge where Summer looked back at Yanina when we had a commanding lead and told her, "We are going to pick you to come to the finale," that spoke a lot about how much we believed in each other. We were willing to go against the best couple even though we could have had easily coasted to the win had we had the chance to pick another couple.
Any fun anecdotes or run-ins with nature you'd like to share?
I would just say those swamps are full of little creepy crawlies. I saw random bushes, dirt and mud move with some kind of wildlife or creatures underneath. It was funny because we didn't care; it could have been a something dangerous, and we would have still kept focused and moved through.
What did you learn about yourself through this experience?
I am willing to compromise more than I thought; it just has to be for the right person. I don't need to be right all the time I just need to have faith that the person I am with will make sound decisions.
Why did you decide to take part in this show?
How could I not take advantage of a chance to go to a tropical foreign country with beautiful women? I tried for the show at the last second from a friend's suggestion, and I have to say thank you to her!!!
Would you call yourself an outdoorsy person? Why or why not?
Yes, I enjoy getting out hiking in the hills of Orange County, deserts of California and forests of Northern California. I enjoy the peacefulness of nature, but don't mind the luxuries of home. I AM A HUGE FAN OF AIR-CONDITIONING.
What are you afraid of?
Not really anything, but if I had to choose one thing... I would hate to be a little girl but it would be spiders. There is something about a creature with fangs and eight legs that doesn't sit well with me. Oh also the fact that I had to take Malaria pills; that made me a little worried. Other than that, I am willing to try anything as long as I know I won't be hurt.
What surprised you most about being in the jungle?
The rapid change in scenery. I would look down and I would be in knee-deep mud, then running through the forest, jumping in a river, and then swimming in the ocean. It was really beautiful but so crazy how the terrain changed.
What was the hardest thing for you to live without? What did you miss the most?
Regular food, the Dominican Republic was full of ham and pineapple. It was nice, but a few of the cast members had a little Montezuma Revenge. Also a car, I was tired of running up hills.
What would other people say are your best qualities?
My genuine side, I am a nice guy and I tend to be very welcoming to others.
Describe the worst date you've ever been on.
I would have to say when I was given a number at a local restaurant by a waitress telling me to call her to hang out. Only to find out when we met up that it wasn't her but her slightly less attractive co-worker. I was bamboozled. They played the ol' bait and switch.
What qualities do you find to be most important in your partner?
Confidence, honesty and communication - you can't really build anything concrete off of anything else. I find it really attractive when a girl knows who she is and what she wants and is willing to let me know.
Describe your ideal date.
My ideal date would be a trip to the Dominican Republic where I get to go through wild adventures to find what she is made of, just kidding. I would want to get outdoors, probably paddle boarding through Newport Beach, then set up a nice dinner where I can show off my cooking skills.
What would other people say are your best qualities?
I would say my best qualities according to other people would be how calm and collected I can be in stressful situations. Being a personal trainer, I've built up a lot of patience. Sometimes it is harder for clients to do what I do on a regular basis and I have to realize that and break everything down for them to complete a certain action, especially when it comes to athletic exercises.
Describe the worst date you've ever been on.
Ironically, I have a weak squeamish side to me. Everyone thinks it's humorous that a big bad bodybuilder/bouncer like myself has a fear of blood and needles. I have a history of passing out every time I have to do blood work at the hospital. Not only do I pass out while just simply giving blood, I also can't deal with watching gory movie scenes. One time I took a girl out on a movie date to a scary horror movie. Halfway into the movie, scenes start to get gruesome and next thing you know I pass out right there in the movie theatre. My date thought I was joking, but quickly found out I wasn't when it took 10-15 seconds to awake me from a deep cold sweat. Never have I been so sweaty in my life, needless to say it was an early night out.
What qualities do you find to be most important in your partner?
The qualities I look for in my partner are someone who can keep me motivated. I'm looking for someone adventurous, spontaneous and independent, as well as beautiful and physically fit. I don't like a high maintenance girl who needs me to do everything and pick everything for her.
Describe your ideal date.
My ideal date would be dinner at a fancy restaurant with a great view of either the city or ocean followed by something fun like a comedy show or music concert. The most important thing to me is to have a fun enjoyable one-on-one time with that person. \
What was it like sharing a cabin with a total stranger?
I've had one-night stands before, I've slept in the same bed as some of my friends who are strictly friends before, so sleeping in the same bed with someone from the show was whatever for me.
