The ever-engaging funny woman Jenny McCarthy returns to her hosting roots as the host of NBC's adventure-dating series "Love in the Wild," for the show's second season.
McCarthy's honesty, humility and humor have enabled her to transcend the boundaries of her roles as comedian, actress, host, best-selling author and influential activist in the world of healing and preventing autism.
With television credits including recurring guest roles on shows such as "Two and a Half Men," "Just Shoot Me" and "The Drew Carey Show," McCarthy continues to be a sought-after comedic actress. In December 2009, she reprised her starring role in "Santa Baby 2: Christmas Maybe." She also joined hosts Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest, reporting live from Times Square on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012." McCarthy will bring her over-the-top comedic sensibilities to VH1 with her new talk show, "The Jenny McCarthy Show," set to premiere in Summer/Fall 2012.
In addition, McCarthy is a highly regarded New York Times best-selling author. Her books include bestsellers such as "Belly Laughs," "Baby Laughs," "Life Laughs," "Louder Than Words: A Mother's Journey in Healing Autism" and "Mother Warriors: A Nation of Parents Healing Autism Against All Odds." "Healing and Preventing Autism," co-written with Dr. Jerry Kartzinel, was published in April 2009. "Love, Lust & Faking It: The Naked Truth About Sex, Lies, and True Romance" hit stores in September 2010, also landing on the New York Times Best Seller List. Her most recent book, "Bad Habits: Confessions of a Recovering Catholic," will be released Fall 2012.
McCarthy's main personal interest is to raise awareness about autism. When she first made public her own experience with her son's diagnosis and subsequent recovery from autism, her unique ability to articulate the unspoken words of thousands of mothers and fathers across the world was recognized immediately.
She is a board member of Generation Rescue, an organization dedicated to recovery for children with autism spectrum disorders by providing guidance and support for medical treatment to directly improve the child's quality of life for all families in need.
McCarthy currently resides in Los Angeles, California with her son, Evan.
This summer, NBC"s "Love in the Wild" returns for the show's second season with new host Jenny McCarthy, a new location in the tropical paradise of the Dominican Republic, and even wilder adventures chock-full of surprises and dramatic twists. More hearts will be broken and catfights will abound when the new crop of singles embark on their journey to find true love.
Hosted by McCarthy ("Singled Out"), the series puts relationships to the ultimate test with exhilarating and wild adventures that challenge the participants, both physically and emotionally. Single men and single women, all looking for love, will experience a romantic adventure unlike anything they could have ever imagined. McCarthy will guide these contestants through rigorous adventures as well as the choppy waters of relationships in their quest to find love. These singles have tried it all - speed-dating, blind dating, Internet dating - and now, they will journey to a tropical paradise to see if they can find that special someone for whom they've been looking.
In each episode, the singles partner up in exhilarating quests that will push their bodies and emotions to the limit, including jumping off majestic 40-foot cliffs, traversing over waterfalls and enduring tasks while overrun by hundreds of scorpions... all forcing them to show their true colors under pressure. These exploits in the jungles, beaches, tropical forests, caves and mountains of the Dominican Republic will put their relationships to the test as they fall for each other in ways they never imagined. Sparks will fly and hearts will break.
After the adventure, as they return for their nighttime escapades, the winning couple will share a night together at the "Oasis," a lavish, five-star estate overflowing with everything they could possibly desire for an intimate night of romance. The remaining couples will stay with their partners in the less luxurious accommodations tiered according to where they finished in the adventures. Based on their finishing rank, couples will reside in either cabins, tents or the more primitive "lean-to."
During an elimination unlike anything seen before, all of the couples will come together to reveal whether a connection has been formed with their current partner - or if they would like to switch and get to know someone else. At the end of every episode, heartbroken singles will be sent home.
The series will culminate with just one couple left standing, who will have completed the adventure of a lifetime and found the one thing they've been searching for - "Love in the Wild."
