The Franklins are sassy, smart and overweight. Mom Amy had a gastric bypass and lost 100 pounds, but since losing her kids' clothing store, she has regained 50 of those lost pounds.
Todd is a secret snacker. The whole family hears him opening the fridge late at night because the dog always gets up to see if there's anything to eat. Todd proudly says he's a fit guy for somebody his size, but his two young daughters Lily and Chloe are both scared their dad is going to die. They have both seen his sleep mask, which ensures he won't stop breathing while asleep. Despite their youth, Lily and Chloe understand the seriousness of their Dad's health condition.
Amy and Todd's friends are all healthy and active. Todd's best friend recently threatened to stage an intervention on his buddy. Amy and Todd know they're the big, unhealthy people in their group of friends, and they've been shrugging it off until now.
