Plunkett-Marquez Family
Doctor's Commentary
The Plunkett-Marquez family are part of the Yavapai-Apache Nation. As Native American Indians they have a rich heritage and much to be proud of. Unfortunately, what they are not so happy about is that, much like many Native Americans, they share the genetics for developing diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. As the matriarch of the family, Delores already has diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure for which she is on medications. Her daughter Coralei is a member of the tribal council and as such, hopes to teach by example. This motivated mom is determined to change her lifestyle and reverse her risks for diabetes, heart disease and stroke - and in so doing change the mindset of her family and her Nation. See how this family leads their tribal community back to good health, instilling a new pride into the Yavapai-Apache Nation and improving their lives through healthy living.
