Vote Help

How do I vote?

Beginning November 5th, 2012, there will be 4 ways to vote for artists on The Voice: through toll-free phone calls; through online votes (via NBC.com, Zeebox App, NBC App and The Voice Live Facebook App); through Sprint SMS (text messaging); and through certain iTunes purchases. For a period following each episode, eligible voters may vote up to 10 times per artist via toll-free phone call per originating phone number; up to 10 times per artist via online per email address (through NBC.com, Zeebox App, NBC App and/or The Voice Live Facebook App); up to 10 times per artist via Sprint SMS per originating phone number; and up to 10 times per artist per iTunes account, by purchasing the artist’s then-eligiblesong(s) through iTunes (up to a maximum of 10 copies). Message and data rates may apply.

Toll-Free Calls

Each of the artists will be assigned his or her own toll-free number during the show (e.g., For the vote shows on November 5th, November 7th and 12th: 1-866-U-LOVE-01 for artist 1, 1-866-U-LOVE-02 for artist 2, etc. For the vote shows on November 19th through December 17th: 1-855-VOICE-01 for artist 1, 1-855-VOICE-02 for artist 2, etc.). To vote, watch The Voice on NBC (see local listings for times in your area), and at the end of the show, and during the applicable voting window (see the When can I vote? section), and dial the number of the artist for whom you wish to vote. You may vote via toll-free phone call up to 10 times per artist per originating phone number in each voting period.

Online

Vote online through NBC.com, Zeebox App, NBC App and/or The Voice Live Facebook App during the applicable voting window (see the When can I vote? section). Either log on to NBC.com (using your email address or your Facebook account), or for tablets and mobile devices, download and open the free Zeebox app, NBC app or The Voice Live Facebook app. You may download the Zeebox app, NBC app or The Voice Live Facebook app onto your iPad or iPhone through the iTunes store; you must be an iTunes account holder to download the iPad or iPhone applications. You can download the Zeebox app and the NBC app to your Android phone via the Android App Google play store; you must be a Google account holder to download the Android applications. Android app voting is only available on the The Voice Live Facebook app by going to the official Voice Facebook page.

If you wish to vote via Facebook, log into your account and go to the official Voice Facebook page where you’ll find The Voice Live Facebook application.

For online voting, select the artist for whom you wish to vote. If you vote correctly, you will get a message on your screen thanking you for voting. You may vote online up to 10 times per artist per email address in each voting period; any attempt to vote online more than 10 times per artist per email address will NOT count, whether the votes occurred on NBC.com, via the Zeebox app, via the NBC app, or via The Voice Live Facebook app. In other words, you can vote 10 times per artist, total, using some or all of these forms of online voting. You will not be able to cast votes outside of the applicable voting window.

You must be 13 years or older to vote online. To vote online, you will need to provide your e-mail address, confirm you are 13 years of age or older, and confirm your acceptance of the voting terms and conditions.

iTunes

To vote for an artist during an episode’s applicable voting period, click to download the song(s) he or she performed in competition in that episode. Each such purchase will count as one vote for that artist, up to 10 copies maximum per artist per eligible song (as defined below) per account in each voting period. Except with respect to the Cumulative iTunes Vote Total (explained below), only a download of a song performed in competition in the most recent episode (an “eligible song”) during the voting period for that episode counts as a vote for the artist who performed it; purchasing a song that the artist performed during a prior episode or any song identified on air as ineligible for the vote or not part of the competition (an “ineligible song”) does NOT count as a vote. For the sake of clarity, in connection with the December 17, 2012 episode, a download of an artist’s song that was also a song performed on a previous episode is only eligible for purchase/voting in connection with the Cumulative iTunes Vote Total. Only valid iTunes account holders will be permitted to vote in this manner. Eligible songs may become available for purchase before or after the applicable voting window opens, and remain available after the applicable voting window closes. For the purpose of clarity, note that each artist has one eligible song in the December 17, 2012 performance show; thus, in connection with that episode, you can vote for each artist on iTunes up to 10 times for that eligible song by downloading up to 10 copies of the eligible song during the applicable voting window.

If any of an artists' eligible songs from the live performances (airing beginning November 12, 2012) are in the top 10 of the iTunes “Top 200 Singles Chart” at the close of the episode’s applicable voting window, that artist will receive an “iTunes Bonus,” which multiplies the artist’s iTunes votes for each such eligible song by ten (10). The iTunes Bonus will be added to the total number of telephone votes, online votes and Sprint SMS text message votes in each week to determine which artists will advance in the competition. There will be no iTunes Bonus available to the artists in connection with voting for the finale. As explained further below, iTunes votes of eligible songs from the live performances for each artist that occur outside of the episodes’ applicable voting windows will be includedo the artist’s Cumulative iTunes Vote Total (defined below).

Following the broadcast of the finale performance episode, the artist receiving the highest number of total audience votes will be declared the winner of “The Voice”. The audience vote consists of the cumulative number of votes received during the finale’s voting window by telephone votes, online votes and Sprint SMS text message votes, in addition to the “Cumulative iTunes Vote Total”. The “Cumulative iTunes Vote Total” means the total number of iTunes purchases of an artist’s eligible songs from the live performances that air commencing on November 12, 2012, and continuing through and including the finale, up to a limit of ten (10) downloads per eligible song per valid iTunes account, including any iTunes Bonuses (if any) previously earned by an artist. For the sake of clarity, the Cumulative iTunes Vote Total will include iTunes downloads of eligible songs from the live performance episodes, up to a limit of ten (10) downloads per eligible song per valid iTunes account, beginning at the opening of the voting window for the November 12 episode and continuing until the close of the voting window for the finale, and will include downloads occurring during and outside the applicable voting windows for the performance episodes airing on November 12 through December 17, 2012.

Sprint SMS (text message)

SMS (text message) voting is available to Sprint mobile customers only. Each of the artists will be assigned his or her own keyword (e.g., 1, 2, 3, etc.) during the show. To vote, watch The Voice on NBC (see local listings for times in your area), and at the end of the show, and during the applicable voting window (see the When can I vote? section), if you are a Sprint mobile subscriber, text the keyword of the artist(s) for whom you wish to vote to the short code 8642. Message and data rates may apply. You will receive a once-only message (per artist) confirming that your vote was received. You may vote via text message up to 10 times per artist per originating phone number in each voting period. If you reach your 10 vote limit per artist, you will receive a text message letting you know you’ve exceeded the voting limit. If you are not a Sprint mobile subscriber, you text voting attempt will not be counted as a valid vote – please try one of the other voting methods: toll-free, online (via NBC.com, Zeebox App, NBC App and The Voice Live Facebook App), or iTunes.

The producers of The Voice (“Producer”) and NBC (the “Network”) reserve the right to disqualify, block, or remove any votes originating from an electronic, mechanical or automated means, or originating from an individual who tampers with or otherwise obstructs the vote process, as more fully set forth in the official Vote Terms and Conditions. Rules and procedures are subject to change at the sole discretion of Producer and/or the Network without notice.

To vote online, you must be 13 years of age or older and provide your e-mail address or have a valid Facebook account. To vote via text message you must be a Sprint mobile subscriber (message and data rates may apply). To vote via iTunes, you must click to download an eligible song to a valid iTunes account (see iTunes terms of service for more information) from within the United States, its territories and possessions during the applicable vote window.

How many times can I vote?

During each voting period, you may vote up to 10 times via toll-free phone call per artist per originating phone number; up to 10 times online (via NBC.com, Zeebox App, NBC App and/or The Voice Live Facebook App) per artist per e-mail address (note: the 10-vote limit applies to all votes using some or all of these forms of online voting); up to 10 times via Sprint SMS voting per artist per originating phone number (message and data rates may apply), and up to 10 times per artist per eligible song (as defined above) per iTunes account, by clicking to download up to 10 copies of the artist's then-eligible song(s) through iTunes (for more on which songs are eligible, and for the voting limits and longer voting window for the Cumulative iTunes Vote Total, see the How do I vote? section). Any vote you attempt to cast above these limits, outside of the designated voting periods, or via ineligible song purchases will NOT count. (You must meet the requirements in the How do I vote? section for your vote(s) to count.) Producer and the Network reserve the right to disqualify, block, or remove any votes that they determine in their sole discretion as originating from an electronic, mechanical or automated means, or originating from an individual who tampers with or otherwise obstructs the voting process, as more fully set forth in the official Vote Terms and Conditions. Rules and procedures are subject to change at the sole discretion of Producer or the Network without notice.

What does “10 votes per artist per method” mean?

It means that on each of the available platforms (including online, Sprint SMS, toll-free, and iTunes) you can cast up to ten votes for each artist who is up for vote for that week. You may vote for multiple artists each week – in each case the ten vote limit per method will apply to each artist you vote for. Please note that the SMS voting method is only available to Sprint mobile subscribers only.

Example: If you want to vote the maximum number of times for an artist across all 4 methods, you can cast 10 votes for the artist via online, 10 votes via toll-free, 10 votes via Sprint SMS, and 10 times via iTunes. This limit applies for each artist.

Note that the online voting method includes voting via NBC.com, Zeebox App, NBC App and The Voice Live Facebook App; in other words, you can vote 10 times per artist, total, using some or all of these forms of online voting.

Regarding voting by iTunes, for the voting limits and longer voting window for the Cumulative iTunes Vote Total, see the How do I vote? Section.

Also regarding iTunes, note that, where an artist has more than one eligible song (as defined above) in a specific episode (e.g., in the December 3 episode, in which each artist has two eligible songs, and in the December 17 episode, in which each artist has three eligible songs), you may vote for that artist on iTunes up to ten times per eligible song.

How much does it cost to vote?

Telephone calls to the voting lines are toll-free from landlines. Airtime and applicable roaming and long distance charges may apply to cell phone calls. Message and data rates may apply to text message votes. Contact your cell phone service provider for more information. There is no charge to vote via NBC.com, Zeebox App, NBC App and The Voice Live Facebook App, except standard internet access charges that you may incur. When voting via iTunes, you will be charged the song download price and any applicable taxes for every purchase, whether or not it counts as a vote. Review iTunes terms of service for more information.

Can I vote using my cell phone?

Yes, you can vote using a cell phone, although airtime and applicable roaming charges will apply to toll-free numbers called from wireless phones. Contact your cell phone service provider if you want to know how much you will be charged. Also, if you are a Sprint subscriber, you can vote via text message and message and data rates may apply.

If you are calling from a cell phone or texting from a Sprint cell phone and you are physically located in a different time zone from your cell phone’s area code, the systems will accept or reject your vote based on the time zone applicable to your cell phone area code.

What will I hear if I call the toll-free numbers?

If you call outside the voting window, you will hear a busy signal, and your call will NOT count as a vote. If you call within the voting window, you will hear a message confirming your vote. You will hear this message even after exceeding the 10-vote limit per artist per originating phone number; however, votes above the 10-vote limit will not count.

My call didn’t get through, or I received a busy signal or other message – why?

The telephone network or your local phone company may be unable to handle the large volume of calls received. If you‘re calling during the voting window but can’t get through to cast your vote, be patient and try again. If the problem persists, contact the telephone network or your local phone company and/or consider voting by one of the other available methods.

If you are calling from a cell phone with an area code associated with a time zone different from that in which you are calling, the system will accept or reject your vote based on the time zone of your cell phone’s area code and whether your call is placed during the applicable voting window for that area code’s time zone.

Can I vote if I use a digital phone service or VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) service to place my call?

Yes, you can vote if you place your call through some digital or internet-based phone systems, such as Vonage or Skype. For further information, contact your digital phone or VOIP service provider.

Voting by Sprint text messaging on your cell phone - What is Text Messaging/SMS?

Text Messaging – sometimes known as SMS (short messaging service) - is a way of communicating short text messages via your cell phone. Most (but not all) handsets have this feature. For The Voice, only Sprint customers have the ability to vote by text message using their cell phone keypad to write the keyword of the artist for whom they wish to vote and sending it to the short code 8642. The keyword, such as 1 for Artist 1, 2 for Artist 2, etc. relates directly to your artist of choice and will be displayed on the show. Only send the keyword to the 8642 short code number you see on screen; you cannot send a text message to the toll-free numbers. Message and data rates may apply.

How do I vote using Sprint text messaging?

As with the toll-free voting, each artist will also be assigned his or her own text message keyword during the show – that keyword will appear on your TV screen alongside the toll-free phone numbers. To vote by text if you are a Sprint subscriber, simply watch The Voice on NBC each week, input the keyword into a new text message on your cell phone and send this message to the short code 8642. Message and data rates may apply. Only send the keyword to the 8642 short code number you see on screen; you cannot send a text message to the toll-free numbers. If done correctly, you will receive a message confirming your first valid vote per artist during the voting window.

Sprint text message voting will open at the end of the show and stay open for several hours, subject to local time zone limitations (see the When can I vote? section). Voting will NOT be open outside the time period determined by the area code on your cell phone. Votes sent outside of the voting window will be invalid, and you will receive a message saying the window is closed. If you are sending your text vote from a cell phone with an area code that is in a different time zone from the one in which you are calling, your vote will be accepted or rejected based on the time zone of your area code.

Sprint subscribers can vote via SMS up to 10 times per artist per originating phone number during the local valid vote window, which is determined by the time zone (as defined above) applicable to the cellular phone area code. You will receive a confirmation text message on your first valid vote (per artist). Message and data rates may apply. If you exceed the 10 vote limit per artist you will receive a message telling you that you have reached your text voting limit.

Is the text messaging vote system the same as the toll-free system?

The design of the text voting is exactly the same as the toll-free voting system in terms of open/close times and regions. Please make sure you watch the show to find out the right numbers each week. If you are a Sprint subscriber and are voting via text, remember to send the keyword to the 8642 short code; you cannot send a text message to the toll-free numbers. Message and Data Rates May Apply.

Who can vote using text messaging?
Text message voting is only available to Sprint subscribers with two-way text messaging capable handsets. Message and Data Rates May Apply. If you are a Sprint customer and wish to check if your handset has two-way text messaging capability, go to www.sprint.com or visit a Sprint store. Sprint subscribers with area codes from within the United States and Puerto Rico can cast their text votes for The Voice artists. If you are not a Sprint subscriber, you can instead vote using the standard toll-free phone numbers, vote online and/or vote via iTunes purchases.

When I tried to vote, my handset said 'message not sent' - why?

Like the toll-free voting, the Sprint text messaging network is designed to handle huge volumes of votes simultaneously. However, there may be times (particularly just after the show ends) when it will not be able to handle every message due to network congestion. When this happens, ‘message not sent’ may appear on your handset. Please be patient and try again later. And, don’t forget to vote within the voting window (as defined above) applicable to the area code of your wireless phone. If you are not a Sprint subscriber, you will not be able to text message your vote for The Voice. Call the toll-free numbers, vote online or vote via iTunes purchases instead.

How will I know if my text message vote was counted?

Voting opens just before the end of the East Coast show – if you text in your vote before then, you will get a message back telling you that the vote windows are closed and your vote will not count. Voting via text message is available to Sprint subscribers only and voting remains open for several hours after the show, subject to local time zone and broadcast feed limitations (see the When can I vote? section). There is a limit of 10 text message votes per artist per cell phone number. If you are texting during your valid vote window, you will get a confirmation message back on your first vote (per artist) thanking you for your vote. Any votes made after your 10th text message per artist will NOT be counted. If you exceed your voting limit per artist you will receive 1 message letting you know you have reached your limit via text voting. Message and data rates apply for each text message you send and receive. A vote window is determined by the time zone (as defined above) applicable to your phone area code. The artist keywords are directly related to the order in which they perform on the show. After the voting window closes, no additional votes will be accepted.

Can I vote using a payphone?

Calls from payphones will be blocked and will NOT count as votes. Please use a landline or cell phone to call our toll-free vote lines. Charges may apply when using your cell phone.

Can I block my phone number when calling the toll-free vote lines?

If you block your phone number when calling the toll-free vote lines, your vote may NOT be counted. If you hear the message “you are calling from an invalid number,” your vote will NOT count. Either unblock your phone number or use a different method of voting.
