View from SVU

There are a lot of perks that come with being a member of the SVU crew. Getting to watch NYC's finest TV detectives take down bad guys for 12-14 a day is one. Omelet bar in the morning is another. But one of my favorite parts is all the great locations we get to film in. That includes some of the city's fanciest hotels and apartment buildings, places I'd never be able to get into without an "authorized personnel" lanyard around my neck.

In this week's episode, "Twenty-Five Acts," we get a peek inside the abode of celebrity talk show host Adam Cain. Cain is a high-powered A-lister in the entertainment industry, and the character needed a pad to reflect that. Check out pictures below of the place we found, and the spectacular New York City view. Not only do you get a great shot of the downtown skyline, but also the large windows look directly down onto the High Line, the city's hot, new elevated park (and - as keen-eyed fans will note - the very place where Benson met Counselor Bayard Ellis to discuss a case in "Spiraling Down").

Filming night scenes isn't easy, even when we don't have to deal with unpredictable city nightlife on the street. Notice how well you can see all those buildings in the background? That's because we bring in some huge lights to shine up at them, illuminating them for our cameras inside the apartment. The effect is a breathtaking view of the city Adam Cain owns at the beginning of this week's episode... one he may very well lose by the episode's end.
