Law & Order: Special Vocabulary Unit: Part deux

Season 14 kicks off with a two-part special, so to get in the spirit of things, we thought that this week's blog post should be a follow up to last week's. Now that you're up to date with some our older terms thanks to the SVU SATs, we wanted to help you out with just a couple of new big-kid words that will come your way as of episode 1. And be sure to add them to that lexicon list you started in 1999!

Public Integrity Unit: Paget Brewster joins us as D.A Paula Foster, head of the Public Integrity Unit. This is a real subdivision of the District Attorney's Rackets Bureau. It investigates crimes committed by "public employees, elected officials, appointed officials, candidates for public office, and others who hold the public trust". It was created by New York County's DA Cy Vance in the hopes of making a stand against government corruption.

Lobstein Syndrome (Osteogenesis Imperfecta): Also known as Brittle Bone Disease, "OI" is a genetic birth defect in which the individual's bones are severely fragile. There are several types and levels of this disease that can, for now, only be treated. For more information and to get involved go to: http://www.oif.org/site/

We can't tell you why you may need to know what either of these mean, just yet. But catch SVU's season premier on September 26th at 9/8c, only on NBC, and all shall be revealed. Well, this among a few other mysteries...
