The episode beginswith a shooting at a school playground. 3 children are shot and one African American child dies. We find out the kid was adopted child of a white prison guard. Our detectives pursue inmate revenge angle and it leads them to the headquarters of a white supremacist group. There they meet a very vocal female member of the group (Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden). The evidence trail continues and they find the actual shooter. He goes to trial and the leader of the racist group decides to make a statement by shooting up the courtroom. Stabler, Munch, the presiding judge, and a few court employees are all shot.
