Brett finds out the truth about Jakes sociopathic tendencies and becomes enraged. He grabs a gun from the court officer, shoots and kills Jake. In his trial, it must be discerned if Brett was acting as a grieving father or a psychiatrist taking the law in his own hands. Brett is acquitted and admits that he knew what he was doing, but the difference between Jake and himself, he would never do it again.
