Benson and Stabler make a hospital call when Melanie, a twelve-year-old girl, is brought in on pregnancy complications. They discover that her husband, also the father of her unborn child, is the leader of a cult (ala David Koresh) in which Melanie is involved. This investigation takes an emotional turn when the detectives pay a visit to the cult leader (Abraham), and don't find him, but find the bodies of over a dozen murdered children. Benson takes lead on this case when Huang sends Stabler home, insisting he cannot handle it emotionally. In the end, Benson finds herself gun-to-gun with Melanie, with Abraham attempting to verbally brainwash Melanie into shooting her. Melanie, who has come to the realization of Abraham's wrongdoings, shoots and kills him instead.
