Her dead beat son is a suspect and with good reason since he steals her money, keeps her restrained, and takes her out of the nursing home to save money. When Bess is found in cardiac arrest, Hope, the hospital administrator, revives her and leaves the detectives to believe that their perp is still out for her. When the cigarette of a nursing home worker, Hal is traced to the burns on Bess, the team is convinced they found their suspect. In truth Hal is just harassing Bess for money. The real perp is Hope, whose sweet and chipper personality leads no one to suspect that she has been poisoning patients and then reviving them to be a hero.
