Father Michael, Eric Stoltz, is under investigation when a murder is committed in his church. Benson and Stabler learn that the perp, Bobby Douglas, blames the crime on Father Michael because he was sexually abused there as a child. In truth it was Bishop Mallinson who Father Michael was covering for because he considered it his duty to protect and keep silent.
