Woman is raped and murdered and a man is stabbed in a local store. The detectives investigate two of the mentally ill people she had recently befriended as well as the recently released ex-con/stabbing victim who pins the murder on one of the mentally ill. The SVU detectives learn it was the ex-con, but will Cabot be able to convince the mentally ill man, who witnessed the crime, to take his medication in order to be lucid while testifying against the convict?
