An investigation into a woman's death leads Stabler and Benson to a deranged stalker. They learn the psychotic man has stalked numerous women in his quest to gain psychological and physical control over them. Once a woman defies this control, the man's pattern has been to viciously and violently lash out at her. When Benson shows no fear in her interrogation of the deranged killer, her colleagues fear that she may become his next intended target.
