Sara Gilbert
Air Date: 09/23/2008 "Trials"
Sara Gilbert may be best known for her role as the wisecracking and lovable Darlene Connor in the long running, hit series ROSEANNE, which garnered her two Emmy nominations and numerous other awards to worldwide recognition.
Sara can currently be seen as a series regular in the role of Leslie Winkle on the CBS hit series THE BIG BANG THEORY. Prior, Gilbert returned to her comedic roots on NBC's hit series WILL & GRACE. She appeared as a diehard Barry Manilow fan, who befriends Will while waiting in line to purchase concert tickets. Her rapport with creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick lead her to star in the WB comedy series, TWINS, about fraternal twin sisters who have nothing in common. One thing that is commonly agreed, however, is that reviewers tend to think that Gilbert is "a genuine talent who seizes the screen no matter the role" (The Hollywood Reporter).
Sara just completed a wonderful guest lead on the 2008 season opener of NBC's LAW & ORDER SVU, as well as an incredible guest role on ABC's PRIVATE PRACTICE. Additional forays into television include another arc on the CBS comedy THE CLASS, and her recurring role as a medical student in yet another recurring role on ER.
Other credits include five-episodes on the hit FOX series 24, as well as the CBS comedy series WELCOME TO NEW YORK in which she starred opposite Christine Baranski.
Gilbert enjoys working in all mediums of entertainment including feature film and theater. She appeared in the feature film RIDING IN CARS WITH BOYS for Columbia/TriStar and director Penny Marshall. The film reunited Gilbert with her POISON IVY co-star Drew Barrymore. Gilbert received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her role.
Additional film credits include DESERT BLUE opposite Kate Hudson, Fox's LIGHT IT UP opposite Forrest Whitaker, in which she portrayed a pregnant, urban teen; a memorable cameo role as a star struck publicist's assistant in the Warner Bros. comedy THE BIG TEASE, and Buena Vista's HIGH FIDELITY opposite John Cusack.
A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Yale University with a degree in Art, Gilbert made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed short film PERSONA NON GRATA.
The film was executive produced by The Shooting Gallery and selected for competition and the 1998 Sundance Film Festival.
Also an accomplished stage actress, Gilbert's theater credits include the off-Broadway play EXHONORATED opposite Richard Dreyfuss and Jill Clayburg, an appearance in the world premiere of Gray Stewart's play DOWNWINDER DANCE and most recently, a starring role in the Williamstown Theater Festival production of HOTEL BALTIMORE.
When not working, Gilbert enjoys photography and resides in Los Angeles. Her work can currently be seen in a show at the Deutsche Guggenheim Museum in Berlin.
