Eric McCormack was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He graduated from Ryerson's University School of Theatre and spent five seasons with Canada's Stratford Festival, playing the lead in such stage classics as "A Midsummer's Night Dream," "Henry V" and "The Three Sisters."

In 1992 he made his feature film debut in "The Lost World." After that, Eric appeared in many television roles including "Top Cops," "Street Justice," "Lonesome Dove: The Series," and "Ally McBeal." Later, McCormack gained worldwide recognition for his role as Will Truman in the NBC sitcom, "Will & Grace." His role as Will Truman earned him an Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series in 2001.

McCormack has been married to Janet Leigh Holden since 1997 and they have a son, Finnigan Holden McCormack, born in 2002.
