Christine Lahti Christine Lahti has had an outstanding career as an actress, starting with her breakout role in "And Justice For All" in 1979 in which she starred with Al Pacino. In 1984 she was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Hazel Zenutti in "Swing Shift." Then in 1995, Lahti joined the cast of "Chicago Hope" as cardiologist Dr. Kathryn Austin. This role earned her an Emmy and Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Series. As most people remember, she was in the bathroom when she won her award. In 1999 she poked fun at herself during the Golden Globes when she presented with a piece of toilet paper stuck to her shoe. She also has won an Oscar for Best Short Film, Live Action, for "Lieberman in Love" (1995) in which she directed and acted.

Christine is also active politically and has protested alongside fellow actresses Sally Field and Jane Fonda to urge the Mexican government to re-investigate the slayings of hundreds of women in Ciudad Juarez, on the Mexico-Texas border.

Christine has been married to television director Thomas Schlamme since 1983 and they have three children.
