Myleene Klass is an entertainer, musician, TV presenter and singer who is attracting increasing press attention as a future star.
Klass began playing the piano and her grandfather's violin at age four. She studied voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she also added the harp to her repertoire. After completing her studies, Klass then won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, from which she later graduated. Work as a session musician and singer quickly followed, leading to her West End debut, joining the cast of "Miss Saigon."
However, Klass first shot into public consciousness in 2001 during the ITV1 series "Popstars." From thousands of singing hopefuls, she was chosen to become one of five members of the controversial yet successful reality pop band Hear'Say. The group's first single, "Pure and Simple," entered the charts at #1, going on to sell over one million copies. However, despite a string of hit singles and a nationwide sell-out tour, the band split in late 2002, leaving Klass to pursue a solo career.
In 2003, Klass signed a solo deal with Universal Classics. The first fruit of this deal was her debut solo classical album "Moving On." Entering the classical charts at #2, the album went on to break records in all genres, entering the popular charts amidst pop and rock artists alike.
Never one to stay still, Klass changed career paths in summer 2005 as she focused on her love for television. Incredibly, her first TV role was presenting the hit ITV1 Saturday morning music show "cd:uk," an hour-long live pop show that proved to be a baptism of fire. She hosted the show for six consecutive months, interviewing a broad range of top music names from 50 Cent to Westlife.
As a result, "cd:uk" made the TV industry sit up and take notice of Klass' natural persona on screen, sending her presenting career spinning into orbit. In 2006, she presented roles on BBC1's "Heaven and Earth Show," as well as the BBC's coverage of "The Proms," "GMTV," "The All Star Talent Show" and "Ghost Towns" for Living TV.
She has lent her time to charitable organizations including World Vision, for which she visited Sierre Leone in early 2006 to see first-hand the impact of the group's efforts in helping villages build up their lives. Additionally, she has been the face of other campaigns including NCH's important "Stop Text Bully" campaign.
In November 2006, Klass took on one of her biggest challenges as she spent three weeks in the Australian jungle as part of ITV1's massive show "I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here." Klass' natural charm and positive personality won over viewers of all ages.
After only one week on "I'm a Celebrity," Klass became the most searched-for celebrity from the show on Internet search engine MSN, and the third most-searched for celebrity overall in the world. By the last week of the show, Klass became the #1 most searched-for celebrity in the world by United Kingdom users. The final show of the series saw Klass crowned "Queen of the Jungle," finishing in second place and firmly winning a place in the hearts of the nation.
Fresh from her jungle success, Klass decided to auction her now legendary white bikini to raise money for the victims of collapsed Christmas savings firm Farepak. The bikini sold for a staggering 7,000 pounds (British) helping many families have a better Christmas in 2006.
After her success on the show, Klass presented the live broadcast section of ITV1's massive "X Factor" final and became one of the presenters on both BBC1's Saturday night entertainment show "The People's Quiz" and the network's new daytime show "The One."
In 2007, Klass launched her own movie show on the prestigious worldwide channel CNN International. "The Screening Room" has welcomed A-list movie stars, including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Robert De Niro and Johnny Depp.
In addition to her television roles, Klass also hosts the Classic FM Breakfast show every Saturday and Sunday morning. She also writes a monthly feature in Classic FM Magazine entitled "Myleene's Hot Property."
Klass caught the eye of the directors of M&S who quickly signed her up to be the face of their 2007 and 2008 advertising campaigns, and she now adorns billboards and M&S windows across the country as well as appearing in their TV advertising campaign.
In July 2007, Klass returned to the world of music with a brand-new deal with EMI Classics. Since signing the deal, she has released two albums, "Myleene's Music For Romance" and "Myleene's Music For Mothers," both of which reached #1 in the classical charts. In fall 2007, Klass hosted her own ITV1 prime time show "Saturday Night Divas," featuring performances from Chaka Khan and Celine Dion, amongst others. She then finished off an extraordinary year hosting BBC1's live end of year show "New Year Live."
Klass released her first book in 2008, a candid pregnancy diary "My Bump and Me." The book headed straight into the top 10 bestseller charts and has remained there ever since.
Shortly after, Klass went to Canada to host her debut show for the country, "A-Listers Unzippped," a fashion panel show with a twist. She also presented "The Classical Brits" for ITV1, a personal career highlight, followed by the launch of her very own baby range in September 2008 in association with Mothercare, "Baby K."
