After his loved ones were assaulted by a rogue Company agent, Nick "Irukandji" Patricks set out to form a team capable of toppling all anti-mutant establishments. Darwin's Guardians is a loose network of underground superhumans that firmly believe that they are the next link in human evolution, and seek to live openly as equal citizens. Originally, the team was mainly comprised of runaways and orphans whose past lives had become unlivable due to their powers and fugitive status. It operated not only as a destructive force against institutions like The Company, Pinehearst, and Building 26, but a surrogate family. After the shutdown of Building 26, their numbers depleted, the Guardians dispersed across the world to regroup, expand their war against those who seek to harm the "gifted," and provide protection and accommodation for super powered fugitives. They wait patiently for the next threat to present itself, but will not hesitate to act if someone is in danger; human or hero.
