So Jason is dead.

It's the next morning. The girl and I spent the night in an abandoned hunting cabin. I sit at the cabin's dusty table and think about him. He didn't think I'd shoot him. And I did. He was so sure. Even when I told him I would. He tried to take me in, and I killed him. What am I, so deep down that he couldn't even see--

"Did you know him a long time, Rachel?" the girl asks from her bunk.

  • "What? Know who?" I say...
