The Job Interview

I stop talking. The memories are still too fresh. The job interviewer looks up.

"Well?" he says. "What did you do?"

"I tried to free her," I say.

"And?"

"And she ... attacked me."

"Ahh," he says. "Not what you expected."

"I think she was just afraid. But whatever they were doing to her... She was powerful."

"Yet you lived," he says.

"She would have killed me. The guys outside came in, she turned on them. I ran."

We sit in silence for a moment.

"Okay, that's enough for our needs," the interviewer says.

"What?" I say. "I haven't even told you how I escaped."
