THE EVENT
Autism Speaks, the cast from NBC's hit show HEROES and the celebrity band "Band From TV" have teamed up to increase autism awareness and help raise funds for autism research at the first ever HEROES for Autism fundraiser. The one-night only star-studded event will kick-off with a VIP cocktail reception and silent auction featuring art work designed and created by the cast and crew of HEROES. Guests will then enjoy a concert performance by the "Band From TV," featuring Greg Grunberg, Adrian Pasdar, James Denton, Jesse Spencer, and Bob Guiney and a special performance by the show's music composers Wendy & Lisa. Wendy & Lisa will perform their music from the series, as well as music from their newly-released CD, "White Flags of Winter Chimneys." All proceeds from the evening's event will be donated to Autism Speaks.
SILENT AUCTION
Every piece of art exhibited at HEROES For Autism is available for purchase through the silent auction. All proceeds will benefit Autism Speaks. There will be over 80 pieces of art on display from 24 artists, featuring a range of mediums, including photography, painting, drawing, and animation, among others. Beside each piece of art is a clipboard designed for your name and bid. The auction will continue until 9:00 p.m. and at 9:15 p.m. the winners will be announced. The pieces will be packaged and taken home that night, or delivered the following week. All purchases are considered donations, thereby making them tax deductible.
VIP COCKTAIL RECEPTION
VIP tickets are $200. The doors open two hours early, guaranteeing numerous photo opportunities and an exclusive first look at the art from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., all while enjoying cocktails and passed appetizers. The VIP cocktail reception is the perfect time for dedicated fans and ardent members of the autism community to meet the cast of HEROES, the artists, and the musicians.
THE ARTISTS
The artists presented in the HEROES for Autism exhibition and silent auction have all donated their work to raise awareness and support for Autism Speaks. Curator Greg Cohen has selected photography from the multi-talented cast and crew of NBC's HEROES to showcase alongside work by some of the nation's most celebrated artists with autism.
