The Great Outdoors

I hate the gym. There I said it. And you know what? It felt great getting it out in the wide open. But that doesn't necessarily mean I hate fitness or working out. In fact, I love it. I love the feeling of getting toned and burning calories, just not in a gym environment. Which leads me to my topic of choice: the outdoors.

That's right, if you're a person like me, who despises the feeling of getting on stationary equipment and running in place without going anywhere, take up an outdoor activity! The benefits to exercising outside include great scenery, fun exploration, working on your Vitamin D intake, and having fun while actually moving.

Some of my favorite outdoor exercises include surfing, running, tennis, and hiking. Anybody can enjoy a nice brisk walk or run around the neighborhood. Get a walking group together for after work or during lunchtime. Send out a work email to help find a friend to play tennis or hike with. The ideas are limitless on how you can take advantage of the great outdoors. I can promise you this: after participating in a bit of outside exercise, you will be left feeling energized and accomplished.

I wouldn't advise throwing away that gym membership just yet. You can make the gym experience just as fun by signing up for classes you never thought you would be into. The worst thing that can happen is you might enjoy it!

So, get outside and start your own exploring. You never know what you might find.
