Leave It to Beavers

We used the bullying theme from the fairytale "Three Billy Goats Gruff" and bumped up the stand-up-for-yourself tone. It worked really well to reintroduce some of our previous Eisbiber (beaver) creatures, whose skittish disposition mirrored that of the goats in the original story. We also wanted to heighten the recent disconnect between Nick and Juliette by bringing Monroe into their home on more formal yet seemingly innocent terms and achieved this through some suspicious dinner conversation.

Cat and Mouse

Some of the motivation for this episode came from the Grimm Brothers' "Iron Hans." In that fairy tale, a king sends a number of huntsmen into a dangerous forest from which they never return. This morphed into a bounty hunter theme with a "viva la resistance" twist. We focused onbrainstorming ways to give a little more significance to our Rosalee character, and a storyline revolving around the questionable ideologies of the Verrat seemed to fit quite well.

Love Sick

In this episode, we tied the Grimm tale "Donkey Cabbages" into Adalind's ongoing "relationship" with
Hank. It was important for us to further underscore Nick's struggle and subsequent inability to tell Hank
the truth about Adalind. The menacing mother figure in "Donkey Cabbages" served as a nice catalyst for
Adalind's mother, Catherine (Jessica Tuck) and the sort of blood debt-baggage theme within that tale
worked perfectly in our world.
