We initially started with the notion of investigating fairy tales from different cultures and
stumbled upon a Japanese story called "The Goblin Spider." This story was fitting
because it featured spiders that had the ability to take human form. This got us thinking
about one of the most notorious spiders known to man, the black widow, which gave us
the ability to craft an intensely seductive creature. We upped the ante by introducing a
cursed aspect to the spider character, which allowed for a rich moral commentary to take
place.
