The Basics

I have never done this before. Where do I start?
Well, first off… welcome! We're glad you're here. In order to use our mobile content, your cell phone must have text and Internet capabilities. Not only does your phone need to be capable of text messaging and surfing the Internet, but also you must be signed up with your service provider to use those services. If you're not sure, check your phone's user guide or ask your service provider.
Why does my phone need to be text- and Internet-enabled?
NBC mobile content is delivered through text message. For simple text alerts about your favorite shoes, you'll get a message delivered to your phone. For more interactive offerings, the text message will contain a link to an Internet address where can download additional content to your phone. You will not be able to receive text alerts, surf the mobile web or download mobile content without these capabilities.
How do I get to the NBC.com mobile website?

In order to go to our mobile website, you need to have a phone that can access the Internet. On most phones, you can access the internet browser from your phone's menu and then enter in the url "m.nbc.com."

Try adding "m.nbc.com" to your bookmarks to save time.

Does going to your mobile website cost money?
There is no charge from NBC to visit our mobile site. However, the normal data rates from your provider will still apply. Check with your carrier to find out what your current plan is or what data plans in general are available.
Is my wireless carrier one that you support?
NBC.com mobile currently supports Alltel, AT&T (formally Cingular Wireless), Sprint/Nextel/Boost, T-MobileĀ®, Virgin Mobile, US Cellular "Dobson" and Verizon Wireless.
How can I find out what my phone model is?
The easiest way is to turn your wireless phone off, remove its battery cover and read the label (it may be under the battery). Your wireless phone model number should be listed on that label. If it's not there, or you can't remove the battery, contact your phone provider.
Which phones can download NBC ringtones, wallpapers, games or watch NBC videos?
The list of phones capable of doing this is far too long to list here! (Remember when no one had a cell phone? Oh, how far we've come.) Check your user guide or visit your carrier's website for full details on your phone's capabilities. Depending on the model, it may be able to do all, some, or none of the things we offer.
Are these services available in other countries?
Currently NBC mobile content is only available in the U.S.
I have a prepaid phone. Can I subscribe to the service?
Some carriers do not allow prepaid subscribers to subscribe to premium text services. Some do. Check with your carrier before signing up.
How do I download an NBC Mobile game?
After you choose the game you want, a text message will be sent to your phone. Open the message and follow the instructions in the message to download the content. Downloading may take a few minutes. Once the download is complete, click "save." A confirmation will be sent to your phone when downloading is complete.
Where do I find the NBC content on my phone after downloading it?
Each phone stores content differently. Most phones will store the download in your "Games" folder. Sometimes the content is in the "Applications" or "User Downloads" folder. You can get to these folders using the main menu on your phone. You can also check your phone's user guide or visit your carrier's website for more specific information.
In addition to the cost of the content, does it cost money or airtime to download?
Most wireless carriers charge in increments of kilobytes (KB) for data usage, not minutes. This means that you are only charged for the data you send or receive through the network. See your operator's terms and conditions for how data sessions are billed on your plan. Downloading content is data heavy, so if your provider bills per KB, you might want to see if your wireless provider offers an unlimited data plan. You can also use the website to browse, preview and send content to your phone directly to save phone data usage.

Text Messaging

How do I send a text message?
All phones have different menu options and buttons. Consult your user manual for specific instructions for your phone. Generally, however, by going to the "Message" option and selecting "New Message," your phone will open a new text message. In the message area use the keypad to type in the keyword associated with the mobile service you would like to use. Depending on your phone's keyboard, you may have to press the numeric key more than once to display the letter you need. In the area where it asks for the phone number, type in the 5-6 digit short code and press "Send/Select."
Will I be charged for text messages?
Standard text messaging rates will apply to any text message received or sent, unless otherwise indicated. For T-mobile users, other charges may apply. Your phone plan may already have an amount of included text messages built in as part of your monthly service charge. If you are not sure what your messaging plan is, ask your provider.
What is a short code?
Short codes are to text messaging what phone numbers are phone calls. Basically, a short code is 5-6 digit number that is like a phone number, only for text messaging. For example, to get daily updates on NBC Late Night guests, you would text the keyword "UpLate" to the short code 62288 to join. The short code is how you contact us via text message.
What is a keyword?
A keyword is the word you send in your text message that identifies the service you want to use. For example, to get daily updates on NBC Late Night guests, you would text the keyword "UpLate" to the short code 62288 to join.
What happens after I have sent the keyword to the short code?
After you have successfully sent the keyword to the short code, you will receive a message back confirming your signup. It usually takes less than a minute. However, sometimes there are delays with the network and it can take several hours to receive the confirmation.
What if I do not receive a confirmation message?

If you are sure you sent the correct keyword, try waiting a few more hours. Network congestion and bandwidth will sometimes slow the sending/receiving of text messages. Also, it could be your cell phone carrier is not one that participates in our mobile programs.

For further assistance regarding text messaging errors, please contact support@gosinglepoint.com or call the customer support number at 1-866-375-2127.

Do the text messages you send me count against my monthly messaging allotment?
Yes, standard messaging rates apply.
How do I pay for my premium text message service?
The charges will be added directly to your mobile phone bill. Additional carrier fees may apply, depending on your agreement with your carrier. Check with your wireless provider for more details in order to avoid unexpected charges.

Troubleshooting

My phone is not compatible with your service. What can I do?
Unfortunately, the only think you can do is visit your local wireless store and purchase a phone that is compatible with our service.
I can't get anything to download. What's wrong?
Check to make sure your phone's Internet and text message services are working or try again later. If you know everything is in order with your phone, it may be due to traffic congestion on the servers.
I get an error when I type the URL address? What do I do?
Make certain you type it exactly as shown and try again; also make sure your wireless web services are activated and enabled before going to URLs directly.
I sent a text message and got nothing back. What happened?
Your phone may not be compatible or your data network may not be working. Check to see if you can access your wireless web and text services, then try again.
Why hasn't my NBC mobile content arrived yet?
Normally, a message sent to your wireless phone should be delivered within a few minutes, but occasionally system delays may cause it to take longer. If after 30 minutes you still have not received your content, please verify that your phone is able to download content and your carrier's data network is working. Then check to see if you can access your wireless web and text services. If everything's in working order, wait awhile and try again.
My content link arrived, but I can't access it on the Internet. Help!
First thing, make sure your phone has access to the Internet through your wireless provider. If it doesn't, contact your provider to sign up for a data plan. If you already have a data plan, your wireless data network may be temporarily unavailable for whatever reason (out of range, roaming, etc.). You should wait until service is available and try again. If you still can't connect, try restarting your phone before attempting to access the link.
I got the text message, but did not get the content link. What do I do?
Your phone may not be compatible with this service. Check to see if you can download any content by using another service. Or, contact your service provider for more information.
My NBC mobile game arrived but when I attempt to download I receive an error message. What is happening?
Your cell phone might not be compatible with games or an Internet connection may not be available through your wireless carrier. If the content is not downloaded and/or is not compatible with your phone, you will not be charged.
I get an error while downloading. What do I do?
Try to download the content again and let it finish. If the problem persists, check your user guide or contact your service provider.
Will I be charged for downloads that are not completed?
No! You will only be billed for games that have successfully downloaded to your phone.
I did everything correctly and it did not work. What now?
Verify that your phone is able to download content and your carrier's data network is working, then check to see if you can access your wireless web and text services.
How do I delete NBC content from my phone?
Every model of phone is unique (like a snowflake)! You should refer to your user manual for details on deleting ringtones, images or other content from your cell phone.
How do I cancel my NBC mobile subscription?
You can cancel messages at any time by sending a text message with the opt-out keyword in the message body to the short code for that service. You will find the opt-out keyword in your initial confirmation. Also, you can send "STOP" to the short code at any time to cancel the service. For example, to unsubscribe to daily NBC Late Night updates you would text the keyword "LATESTOP" to short code 62288. You will get a message back asking to confirm that you want to unsubscribe from the service.
I'm having all sorts of trouble and this didn't answer my questions. What do I do?
