JesseRay Vasquez and Garrett Gerson are the only duo out of 13 successful designers on NBC's reality competition series "Fashion Star."

Vasquez and Gerson are Malibu-based women's wear fashion designers. Vasquez is originally from Modesto, California, and Gerson is a Malibu, California native. Vasquez has always been a businessman at heart; as a kid he was called a "mover and shaker" as he went on to study law and dispute resolution at Pepperdine University. However, he realized early on that he had an undiscovered talent for fashion design when he joined forces with best friend Garrett to start Sjobeck. Gerson grew up learning the world of business from watching his parents rebuild their Malibu Ranch Corporation to success again after losing it in a tragic fire. Through their experiences, he learned the value of a dollar and what hard work and perseverance can bring. He has always had a passion for painting and photography and a great interest and passion in fashion design. Gerson's first project began when he was only 10 years old, helping design his family's company uniforms. He later attended UC Santa Cruz to study economics and business management. He also interned with Sheri Bodell and Ryan Roberts. Together, using their business and fashion expertise, Vasquez and Gerson joined forces to create this new and exciting partnership.

Vasquez and Gerson started their contemporary brand Sjobeck in 2006. Sjobeck epitomizes "old Malibu laid-back" style with luxury fabrics, couture techniques and versatile day-to-night wear. Sjobeck gained massive attention when an influential buyer of Ron Herman and Fred Segal, John Eshya, picked up the collection the following year.

Currently, Sjobeck is carried in 90 stores nationwide and 20 stores around the world. Some of the top boutiques in the country including Ron Herman/Fred Segal, Intermix, By George, Alene Too, Carolina Boutique, Abersons, 8Fifteen, Pamela Robbins and Jamie Nashville, just to name a few, now carry the Sjobeck lines.

Vasquez describes himself as a positive person who embraces obstacles only to learn and benefit from them. When not running Sjobeck, Gerson also oversees his family's businesses which include restaurants, bars and one of Los Angeles' largest event production companies. Building on Sjobeck's success, the "twins" have expanded their business into other realms of fashion, which include contemporary maternity wear, plus-size athletic wear, and a high-end men's underwear line launching next year.
