Brandon Scott is one of 13 successful designers on NBC's reality competition series "Fashion Star."
Scott, a Los Angeles-based women's wear and menswear fashion designer, was born to a poor family in Chicago. Despite difficulties, his father started a magazine distribution company the year he was born and two years later his mother joined the company. Together, they built it into a successful business and after six years, his parents sold their company and moved to Nashville. After eight years in Nashville, the Scott family moved again to California. The California lifestyle really appealed to Scott, and art and music became a huge part of his outlook on fashion. In 2001, Scott moved to San Francisco to finish college at San Francisco State University (SFSU). During his final year of college, Scott obtained an apprenticeship with one of the best design houses in San Francisco - Nice Collective. His first real job in the industry came when he worked his way up and became Nice Collective's design assistant. After a year, Rebecca Beeson hired Scott to launch her new men's collection, B.SON. From 2004 to 2008, Scott was in charge of all design, sales and production for B.SON.
In 2008, the recession hit his family hard and everyone lost their job that year. Scott made one of the biggest decisions of his life - to launch his own brand and start his own fashion empire. Scott's vision was to create menswear that encapsulated the fusion of Japanese and German aesthetics, treating each seam like the bones of a building and deriving inspiration from his grandfather who trained at the Bauhaus in the 1930s. Discontented with the over-designed and mass-marketed trends of his industry, Scott's vision was to produce lines with purpose and structure in clothes. The mundane beauty of everyday life from a destitute parking lot to a vintage car or a skyscraping building is what catalyzes B:SCOTT's creations. In 2009, Scott moved to Los Angeles to embark on his new business venture, ScottxScott Inc. - a family owned and operated business which houses four brands, including B:SCOTT (men's contemporary), Sarah Scott (women's contemporary), THE:ODDS (men's sportswear) and One of One (bespoke bags and shoes). Currently ScottxScott, Inc. sells to over 40 different stores and chains throughout the world, including but not limited to: Urban Outfitters, American Rag, Atrium, Revolve, Machus, Owen, French Corner, No A, Hangr 16, 80's Purple, Zebra Club, Hoodie Shop, Redeem, ID Menswear, Akira, Bill Hallman, Global Atomic, Showroom, Eva, Albertine, Life Curated, Anjelic, Sophia, Qlosett, and many others.
Scott has been in relationship with his girlfriend for close to a year and loves to be creative in every way. He gets inspired by city life, skateboarding, snowboarding, art, music, photography and architecture.
